A lot of y’all can’t comprehend what these women are saying 💀 they’re not making excuses for Naomi but telling y’all the reality of what blck women go through…. Everyone handles it differently and unfortunately Naomi did not handle it well a few times but she’s human, everyone makes mistakes. If someone put your whole life on public display, I am certain that many of y’all would not be the angels you’re trying to portray in these comments. In fact a lot of comments here are very micro aggressive. Naomi had to fight twice as hard as all her other whte model coworkers for less her whole life, that with fame takes a toll and she acted terribly but she does feel remorse & she took accountability. Nobody is perfect, there are far worse people in the industry that haven’t faced no consequences & taken NO accountability.
@carpiediem26 ай бұрын
No excuses and IMO, Naomi acts thuggish. Negative experiences attributed to ones race or culture still does not excuse and warrant lashing out physically to their staff. I'm sure Tyra Banks would have her opinion. Didn't Naomi bully her? Victim or victor, you have the autonomy to decide what you choose to be. Disingenuous that Naomi and the 4 ladies on the panel to be belly-aching about their victim-status whilst on television, great careers and no doubt money in the bank. How about remembering they're also privileged. As a BW myself, I've been on the receiving end of BW's bullying, I cracked on with my job.

@@carpiediem2 negative experiences makes people act out…. That’s basic psychology. I’m sure you’ve been in a bad mood or gotten into fights/arguments when being treated unfairly. I don’t think a single soul on earth hasn’t. I said everyones experiences & reactions is different and it took a toll on Naomi, like it would any human being & she unfortunately handled it aggressively. What matters is that she is remorseful, took accountability and did her community service. We can’t compare our life to Naomi’s, it’s different when you’re a public figure. I’m sorry you went through difficult times too but we’re all unique and you being able to handle the disrespect doesn’t mean everyone else can. I don’t condone Naomi’s actions but I can emphasize being mistreated and making a mistake. Nobody’s perfect and I do think there’s things people can’t learn or come back from but this isn’t one of those situations in my opinion.
@carpiediem26 ай бұрын
@MARIAHMOMENTS thank you for your sentiments and I have moved on, no lasting issues for me and I certainly haven't allowed it to distinguish my pattern of behaviour except to be kind. My point is that BW can also be perpetrators and somehow think by crying about their personal issues, it mitigates their behaviour. Many are combative and highly irritated, we all have agency, choose our conduct but she is habitual. These are not one-off incidences, she's on a carousel of emotionally led and reactive behaviour. What's worse is that this panel in all of their privilege up hold it up by citing "it's hard to be a black woman" rhetoric. It's not hard, it's a joy and they do not speak for me. Some have a tendency and I've observed an increase, in recent years, of some BW acting outrageously then outraged by the response effectively acting like a "Karen". No excuses. In fact, I think I'm more frustrated and disappointed by the panel than Naomi at this point.

@@carpiediem2 I think we can do both. Talk about the struggles and celebrate being blck. We’re complexed, and on this panel specifically they are addressing the struggles and reality of facing rcism and misogyny, relating it back to how Naomi was one of if not thee only blck woman in mainstream modelling spaces during a time diversity was highly frowned upon. I’m sure they’ve talked about celebrating being blck women but this topic is different. I’m glad you don’t find it hard & were able to not let negativity distinguish your behaviour but everyone’s different and unfortunately it did Naomi’s. Everyone can definitely be the perpetrator but many times there’s reasons to why people become the perpetrator. I know it may sound like excuses but there’s always a story behind them. I don’t believe most blck women who have struggled in there workplace are the perpetrators though. Rcism & misogyny has been embedded in society. History shows. I’m not saying a blck women can’t be responsible for difficult situations but from what’s I’ve experienced, seen & heard most times there’s more to the story. It may be easier for me to forgive & empathise for Naomi knowing what I know or how she’s made amends, and helped changed the industry so models don’t go through what she did an make mistakes like her. Whether you want to forgive her & move on or not too, it’s honestly up to you. We’re not perfect and we’re our own individual beings with unique experiences. I choose to believe some people can change for the better.
