Naomi inspires me. I will vote for her. Her words remind me of what I had felt as a child, without knowing the picture, not to mention the bigger one.

There are more jobs in renewable energy than in coal and nuclear combined. Governments should help people to transition to the new technologies. The business world just needs clarity about energy policy.

We need to stop building suburbs here in the States and start building more railways for mass transit so people can stop using cars. Tesla cars are not the answer, or at least not the major answer to transportation pollution.

+George Costanza I'm not a fan they tend to be open areas with few to no trees, all houses look the same, and honestly in some the houses aren't even appealing as they are wayyyyy too big for my taste. That's my opinion though. Its also pretty shirty to see towns move like a slug across the landscape abandoning old portions of town moving to new places. Why does no one see positives in rebuilding or fixing up those old buildings? In all honesty living in houses both new and old structurally speaking most new homes these days are built very cheaply just like how TV's today break while your decade or 2 old CRT TV still works.

@Frack - but we do fix and rebuild old parts of cities. It is called gentrification, and for some reason lefties also hate it.

I would love to see Naomi Klein steer 350.org toward a carbon fee and rebate, rather than its focus on divestment, which is really a shell game. She ends her interview in the Gaurdian in Sept 2013 with " We don't have any more time to waste with these very clever, not working shell games. " and yet, divestment, as it's generally explained by those working on it, is in fact just such a shell game. It does not actually hurt the profits or the capitalization of the fossil fuel industry. It may be very good for movement building. That may be so. But then it can be used to promote a full analysis and to present the carbon fee and rebate, which is the actual way to cut into the profit margin of the fossil fuel industry. Divestment doesn't touch profit margin, and it also doesn't touch the huge amount of the industry that is not publicly traded. The current lull in oil prices is *not* a result of divestment, as all commodities including copper and iron are in an equally big dip right now. We seriously need a real carbon fee and rebate, and it would help greatly if Naomi Klein and 350.org would really get behind it, at least in combination with divestment. Let us carry intellectual honesty all the way home. All the way.

@@Thaddeus28It's a pretty well known fact that capitalism over-consumes, idk why you are arguing against that. I've been on board about banning private planes for many many years now. I don't think noami or any rich person will save us. Capitalism had to go, millionaires and all, private planes and all of it.
