When I get up at 4 AM PST, I turn on the bear cam first thing. Otis is already working in his office. Before I leave for work at 6 AM, Otis has already bagged 20 fish. By late July, I thought Otis was gone. I had crowned 747 the new Otis of the falls. Then, all of a sudden, here comes Otis. Lookin all scraggly and boney thin. He heads right into the office and starts breaking records. Otis, the true king of Brooks falls.

I have come to totally dig watching the bears. I feel like I know them...lol. Otis is awesome to follow. Love seeing the cubs and the Mommas taking care and defending them. Tragedy is there as well but that is a bear's life.

I thank you for the absolute privilege and pleasure of being introduced to King Otis. He has touched my soul in a most profound way, and has become a guru to me,cif I were physically able to visit him in his kingdom, I would be there yesterday…I’m in Australia and care for an ooold water dragon named Puff, he’s cut from the same cloth as Otis, he appears in my kitchen every summer after a long winter sleep, skinny as, with lumps out here and there and a old injury to one of his back legs. Just as Otis does, he heads back into his burrow a lot fatter, happier and sleepy come autumn,These ancient Kings of the forest are my teachers, and they make my life that much more meaningful.
