I only gave CoB (among many other similar bands) a chance recently after shunning metal my whole life. This guy is my favorite composer and guitarist in the genre so far. Not necessarily the very best one (I don't play the guitar so it's hard for me to gauge skill accurately, although it's obvious that he was well above average to say the least), and I'm not a huge fan of the style he chose for most of his vocals, but I just love his riffs and solos.

The new song is amazing!!!! It's like a mix of Lil' Bloodred Ridin' Hood, Not my Funeral, Mask of Sanity, thrashed lost and Strungout, follow the reaper. The drums might be the best part and really compliment Alexi's riffs/songwriting. Guitar solo is melodic and technical as you'd expect from Alexi but Daniel even gets time to shine. Keyboards are pushed back in the song to accompaniment rather than being a lead instrument. It's sad how much potential this band had. Alexi still had so much more music left to give the world and judging from this song Bodom after Midnight would have had a long career. Going to have this on repeat for days 🤘 It is awesome that Alexi was able to record two new songs before his death but its equally sad that this is the last music we will hear from him. I was so happy but also heartbroken that we got to see Alexi perform one more guitar flip at 2:50 That nearly sent me over the edge that I had to pause and watch it again. I could hear several of their albums mixed into this one song. I could hear the melodies of Something Wild, the hatred riffs and chants of Hatebreeder, the vicious neo-classical harmonies of Follow The Reaper, the intensity and aggression of Hate Crew Deathroll, the heavy simplicity of Are You Dead Yet?, the chromatic chord progressions of Blooddrunk, the grooviness and rock of Relentless Reckless Forever, the technical heaviness of Halo Of Blood, the emotional and intense energy of I Worship Chaos, and finally, the heavy rock and roll sendoff finale of Hexed. To be fair, the stuff off of Hexed was pretty damn good. I consider Platitudes and Barren Words to be one of their best songs since Are You Dead Yet? That being said, I agree wholeheartedly that this new band was incredible and that this song kicked ass! Definitely the heaviest song he has made in decades and I believe he stepped up because of the expectations of millions who thought that thiswas just going to be a cover band. Alexi didn't fade away. The man went out with a bang!

It is only after almost 3 years after Alexi's passing I could bring myself to watch this MV I can see that his body is weak, that he's tired. Yet despite that, you can still see the fire burning in him, flame that has driven him trough his whole career You can see that despite everything, he's still willing to put on the best show he possibly can.
