@@derdenserr to be honest, it was a quite normal, humble apartement in Espoo, near Helsinki. He had a Sauna (like everyone in Finland 😆) in the bathroom, Playboy magazines on the floor, lots of COB Posters on the wall and travelling bags everywhere 😉 on the Tv there was, of course, Icehockey 😉 one of my friends was a huuuge CoB Fan so this night and meeting Alexi was a dream that came true for him... we were lucky to get to know Alexis best friend and we hung out with her while we were in Helsinki. When Alexi called her and she told him that she was with us,he told her that he would love to meet us,so we got a taxi a drove to his flat the next day😉

I only gave CoB (among many other similar bands) a chance recently after shunning metal my whole life. This guy is my favorite composer and guitarist in the genre so far. Not necessarily the very best one (I don't play the guitar so it's hard for me to gauge skill accurately, although it's obvious that he was well above average to say the least), and I'm not a huge fan of the style he chose for most of his vocals, but I just love his riffs and solos.

@@dudarino666 That was my favorite thing about discovering melodic death metal for the first time. I remember thinking, "Wow, these songs are like one long guitar solo. The new song is amazing!!!! It's like a mix of Lil' Bloodred Ridin' Hood, Not my Funeral, Mask of Sanity, thrashed lost and Strungout, follow the reaper. The drums might be the best part and really compliment Alexi's riffs/songwriting. Guitar solo is melodic and technical as you'd expect from Alexi but Daniel even gets time to shine. Keyboards are pushed back in the song to accompaniment rather than being a lead instrument. It's sad how much potential this band had. Alexi still had so much more music left to give the world and judging from this song Bodom after Midnight would have had a long career. Going to have this on repeat for days 🤘 It is awesome that Alexi was able to record two new songs before his death but its equally sad that this is the last music we will hear from him. I'm still in shock. Alexi was a guitar hero in every way who inspired so many with his music. He will be remembered. RIP Alexi

He knew that everyone, the critics, the media and even metalheads were expecting a Bodom Clone. He knew that he couldn't hold back and gave it everything he had. I dare say that as he got older, he was getting more feirce unlike the rest of the original Bodom crew who were becoming more mellow with each album. Look at the drummer or the bassist from CoB... the bassist especially joined some sad glam band that sounds like something a teenage girl would listen to or something. I nearly cried watching this. What a way to end off his career. I was so happy when I saw this song was nearly 5 minutes, I knew that we were in for a treat. I was so happy but also heartbroken that we got to see Alexi perform one more guitar flip at 2:50 That nearly sent me over the edge that I had to pause and watch it again. I could hear several of their albums mixed into this one song. I could hear the melodies of Something Wild, the hatred riffs and chants of Hatebreeder, the vicious neo-classical harmonies of Follow The Reaper, the intensity and aggression of Hate Crew Deathroll, the heavy simplicity of Are You Dead Yet?, the chromatic chord progressions of Blooddrunk, the grooviness and rock of Relentless Reckless Forever, the technical heaviness of Halo Of Blood, the emotional and intense energy of I Worship Chaos, and finally, the heavy rock and roll sendoff finale of Hexed. Rest In Peace, our dear Alexi Laiho. You will never be forgotten. It was a pleasure meeting you, even if it was only once, but I’m so happy that I was finally able to tell you that I love you and that you are my inspiration and idol that I look up to. It's just sad and crazy to think there was nothing they could do for him. I don't know much about the specifics of his health conditions, but with modern medicine and technology you'd really think they could have prevented such an early death (and Alexi's net worth was in the millions, so it's not like he couldn't afford the best care). It just sucks.
