The average skier going down hill quickly does 40 mph, if the skier is head down, and arse in the air and just goes for it they do 60...ish mph. Dry slab avalanches typically travel 60-80 miles per hour. They reach these speeds *within about 5 seconds after they fracture*. A large, fully developed avalanche like on the video can weigh as much as a million tons. It can travel faster than 200 miles per hour. You still think you can outski one?
