I think u should do what u did shogun2/empire.u put your cannons troops on slightly higher on the hill so they can fire over your troops..then put your line troops just below them.also will shorten the line so u can more manage it better

You are suffering a lot in these battles because you do not understand the difference between horse arty and foot arty.

your atty is weaker the the other country sin accury and loading skill but its cheaper to make and upkeep so to just tell you your guns are inferrer to all countries in accrue and loading skill
