Hey naptown i have a question for you about my audi, i bought a mt fluid kit from ecs to replace the fluid in my audi a4 b7 2.0t fsi, on the website when i put in the kit it said it fit my car, but i noticed after i got my package when i look at the details on my order they come up with G055512A2 gear oil, however when i punch in my car under that gear oil on the website it says it does not fit my car? Do you know if the vw gear oil G 055 512 A2 will fit my a4 or no? I live in MA so it gets cold here to idk if thats a factor to put with this.

Working on a bpy out of my 07Passat. Swapping the bottom end due to sludge and trashed crank bearings. I am reringing with stock pistons now. My donor motor had a trashed oil starved head as well and oil puck up was plugged. My machine shop in Portland was able to fix the head. I love my Passat but you have to wrench to stay in the game with these.,lots of maintenance Love your vids. Keep up the great work. Question. Why no silicone on the cam bridge? Super curious to know. Oh and you last video on boring honing etc was great info. Keep it up we all appreciate it

Mine is also a BPY, car has just under 154,000 miles. We love the car and besides being a great driving experience, it has a lot of sentimental value so we are determined to put it back on the road. It’s our honeymoon car and took us almost 19,000 miles trouble free except for the quart of oil we would pour in about every 500-700 miles. We got it for $2200 out the door at the end of 2019.

Any CCTA that suffers from oil starvation will 100% destroy the CH, the block may survive with minor TLC, but the cylinder head always gives up. I have yet NOT one engine at the junkyard w a good cylinder head.

Can you bring this engine to machine shop for resurface cylinder block and after that use oversized pistons? Thks.
@NaptownTuner
@NaptownTuner 3 жыл бұрын
Not with the massive ridge and damage to the cylinder wall on this one. I only trust the factory hone job that I recently made a video on especially since it costs more time and labor to do oversized machine work / all the bearings, crank replace, new head, oil pump, flushing everything... My machine shop does one head a month very slow and last time I dropped off an engine it took 2 months. Plus when metal and trash destroys everything I like to retire the engine, don’t need the risk of trash somewhere wiping bearings out again. More cost and time effective to lay it to rest

Don't worry, there's a mobile mechanic in my area who doesn't have a workshop anymore, he's a Harvey Whose a Richards Whose like that,I didn't take my car back to him after getting a wheel alignment done as he told me to come back in 1 months time so he can readjust it, I had to take it somewhere else. I left one of them in 2002 straight after I finished my apprenticeship as an electrical fitter/mechanic & yes, they probably didn't even clean out the engine block & all of the parts !

I see this happening way to often in KZbin (from Europe) . Sludge in th oil pan. It is always cars in the US, then most of videos in KZbin are from the US. I belive there is an issue with very bad quality oil been used in modern engines. It might be related with the obsession in the US with changing the oil way to ofthen, and then trying to save money on each oil change, that results in low quality oil been used. I have one of this engines from new, 200.000 + miles, I only change the oil and filter every 20.000 miles, that is 10 times in its live. But I use best quality in both. The engine works perfectly. I change the tensioner (for the new version) and the timing chain is not streached, the camshaft is clean, no baked oil steins. I only had to clean the intake valves recently because of missfire when cold, at 200.000miles!
