Today, Poor Girl will try to understand healthy families and Bluey. This is the second part of a series of her watching Bluey, having never seen a single episode of the show before and not knowing anything about the series. This video is a mix of first impression, reaction, review, commentary and criticism. Is this show going to be a good time or a waste of time? If you have any recommendations for Poor Girl, put them in the comments below!
Full Poor Girl Pop Culture Playlist: • Poor Girl Reactions
About Poor Girl:
She's lived 30 years without movies or TV shows. You most likely have questions, probably about what rock she crawled out from under. She grew up extremely poor and there simply wasn't any money for frivolous stuff like a TV, going to the movies, a computer or internet. It wasn't until recently that she was able to afford internet without a data cap and could start streaming content.

I showed my mom Bluey and she FREAKED out saying it was the worst parenting she has ever seen in a show, she thinks it should be taken off the air, etc. that alone tells how she raised me lol.

I had a coworker say Bluey was annoying and the parents were bad because “In real life kids aren’t supposed to be catered to.” And that I guess Bluey gets her way to much? I have literally never seen Bluey throw a tantrum or her parents give into it. And we work in special education. We literally personally cater to children all day based on their needs!

Yep! I think I remember the weird artsy CGI shorts I caught on YTV between shows more than just about any other early thing I watched. The one that lived rent free in my head for over ten years before I finally got to learn its title was "Stanley and Stella in Breaking The Ice", specifically the scene where Stanley divebombs into the ice and it shatters, allowing the birds and fish to mingle. The way that ice broke like glass stayed with me for a ridiculously long time.

As someone recovering from a npd mom and codependent dad bluey is a great resource. I also highly recommend mama cusses and her friend Tori. Martian child was a great movie. There's a scene that became a staple in my parenting. Look up gentle parenting, gentle discipline techniques. I have an 18 month old who has started to understand sharing and has decent attachment style and emotional regulation, despite my personal baggage and mental health issues. Not bragging about my toddler, just advocating for a parenting style with visible results. I hope you're able to find what works for you. And like Coco's mom said "you're doing great". Just the fact you're looking into parenting styles shows you want what's best for your littles, and I think that's the corner stone to being a good parent

It’s funny because I have BPD, which gives me hyper empathy, and I would feel horrible doing anything the way my mom did to us growing up. I love watching shows with healthy families since mine is so fucked up and dreaming that this could be mine for the rest of my life. :) The only time I’ll put my hands on my kids is to give them a hug, and the only words that will come out of my mouth will be to make them know that I care about them and want the best for them.

For anyone curious, in S1 Bluey is the eldest sibling/cousin at 6, Bingo is the second at 4, Muffin is 3, and Socks is 1. In later seasons, each child has a birthday party (except Socks, for whatever reason) and turn a year older, respectively.

Interesting fun fact about Bandit and Chili- They both have 'dog jobs'. Kinda. Bandit is an archeologist, and you can find a clip online about a really important find he was having a press conference for, and he is trying hard to resist the urge (but ultimately fails) to chew on the fossilized bone. Cus Dogs love to dig up bones lol. That's why his office has all those cool artifacts. Chili works at an air port, which is a reference to a dog contraband sniffer. The world is really clever with their dog puns and world building.

I love how Muffins tantrum is just her lying on her back shouting “THIS IS UNEXCEPTABLE!!” like she’s filing some kind of formal complaint. Muffin and Socks ARE younger then Bluey and Bingo, so I sort of think Stripes is not as familiar to the whole being a dad thing as Bandit is. Stripes is also Bandits LITTLE brother, so as you’ll see if you continue watching, Bandit kind of gets a kick out of the usual older brother ribbing. Also the room with artifacts IS Bandits office: like I said on your first video watching Bluey he’s an archeologist, so he does have the advantage of not needing to worry about being covered with marker, or looking dumb like that.
@battybuddy
@battybuddy Жыл бұрын
In episodes like Fairy Tale, and Squash, Bandit is shown that he occasionally is a jerk to Stripe… well, in an “older brother” jerk sense, and kind of gets “yeah, guess I am kinda” when Bluey and Bingo point it out to him.

You're so right about kids remembering a playground trip over an internet video. I remember being at a castle park getting inside a sign structure I shouldn't have fitted under and joining a cult with a bunch of kids I never met nor would ever see again, and how I told my mom about it after. The good childhood memories I do have in front of a screen are the ones with my mother there actively engaging with me, usually it was artwork and drawing videos or she was showing me music. Sorry, little off topic from Bluey itself but it struck a cord with me.

My parents aren't narcissists, but there were many episodes where I thought to myself, "Wow, I wish my parents did that with me." My mom insulted and hit me a lot (my dad did only sometimes), and both of my parents were never very good at listening to me or any of their other kids (heck, this applies to most of the adults around me, growing up). The Dance Mode and Yoga Ball episodes made me emotional, because just hearing the parents actually listen to Bingo (with no hostility or condensation), validate her feelings, apologize, and teach Bingo how to set boundaries and stand up for herself, made me realize how many issues get solved when parents actually hear the kids out instead of deciding how their kids feel by guessing or just telling them to calm down and get over it. Having an adult actually listen to me and let me express why I was upset was something that I think I needed as a child. I think that life would be easier for kids and parents alike if the parents learned to actually listen to their kids and try to empathize with them more. It allows for both sides to understand each other and actually solve the issue and teaches kids how to express their feelings in a healthy way, without needing to throw tantrums. That would've helped me tremendously.

Guilt and shame me that at 12 I still haven't learned (ignoring no memory of trying to teach me when I was younger). Even when I "learned" I still sucked. How I didn't end up in the er is beyond me. My toddler has quite a bit of playtime but the tv is always on in the background that he can stop and watch if he wants. It’s usually things like nick jr., bluey, mrs. Rachel on KZbin, things for kids and toddlers to learn things from. He knows how to count to 5, if not 10, and knows a few random letters on sight and it’s helping him learn to speak more and better. He’s only 2 and his speech was a tad behind, but he can say a few words in a whole sentence now. Still not a large variety, or the clearest, but the baby and toddler learning shows and videos are definitely helping. He won’t let anyone read actual books out loud to him…He also loves bluey so much we got him a talking bluey stuffy and dvd set with the entirety of the first 2 seasons as well as the unedited Australian originals of the few episodes that Disney edited and the banned episode from those seasons.
