That's actually what I did. I heard them play 'Last Nite' on some late night talk show and instantly enjoyed the song. Next day, I bought the album and loved the entire record. So yeah, I listened to their music first and then I got interested in them as a band.

I bet that's it, the guy they got their guitars from probably just did it as a side venture and just never paid taxes. Even though, the guy who sold the guitars I imagine didn't want that known since he apparently sold a lot of guitars. He would have probably owed the government money.

On a previous video (Part 2?) I said Nardwuar was rude and annoying and that the whole interview frustrated me. But now at the end I realize this is one of the few interviews that you actually see Julian and Nick's personalities and hear what they think and feel about their music and experiences. This by far beats those interviews that are set up like a game of 20 questions. I wish this interview was longer now! They were so young, I want to see more of them at this age.

Now I notice how all of the things he asks and tells them are just a mean to portray Jules and Nick perfectly and make their personalities stand out. Everybody says that Narduar is usually a lot less annoying and I feel like because it's the Strokes and they don't like interviews and you usually get one worded responses from them, he had to push more to get more. And in the end it worked, I've been binge watching interview and what the fuck else on the Strokes for a month and this is the best, most complete interview I've seen about them. It's good to see their personalities. Hope they saw this interview and realized he only wanted to put them in a good light ^^

The Strokes are actually my favorite band, and oddly enough I knew there music way before I knew them. That being said I also love nardwuar. He is no different in this interview than any other. The thing is as they said several times they don't like interviews. They are very pessimistic about them and their thought process was that this interview would end up being edited to make them look like total douche bags, but differently it didn't get edited. I wish they would do a second interview together, I feel like the second would be a lot better because they wouldn't be as critical as they were to the whole interviewing process with nardwuar and just realize it's a lot about fun and showing a possible real personality.

Nardwuar is not an idiot I have watched a bunch of his interviews and he does his weird comedy thing but he is usually a good interviewer. By playing the asshole interviewer in this one he let the strokes vent on how annoying and difficult the media hype had been. At this time their first album wasnt even out yet everyone was already acting like they were the best thing ever. Notice near the end of the interview when Nardwuar asks if Julian has anything he wants to let his fans know.
