Beautiful flight. Watch for small planes south of 580 there because the ILS approach into Livermore airport goes right through there at 3100’. And a couple miles south of there is R-2531 restricted airspace up to 3900’ Monday through Friday during business hours.

You're such a good pilot and videographer. As you passed over Mt. Oso, it brought back a painful memory of when I broke my leg in April 1975 when I launched my homemade glider off of Mt. Oso. I had been flying for 9 months at that time and it was truly pilot error as I stalled my glider and rode it to the hard ground. I flew for 16 more years with no incidents. Those were different times and different gliders to say the least. My last glider was a Wills Wing Sport so I did get to taste quality performance before I decided to stop flying.Your videos remind me of wonderful times flying. Thank you for posting your excellent videos.

Thanks for the appreciation Gary! I didn’t know Mt Oso was a launch site back in the day! Haven’t heard of anyone flying there recently. We talk about flying from “Wild ass” further south in the Panoche valley but haven’t done it yet. I’m thankful to your generation for pioneering the sport and being the true daredevils flying on those dangerous gliders. It feels so much safer today.

It was never a launch site. I got in with the cattleman who leased the property. No one else has ever launched from there to my knowledge.
