@@cid7707 , you personally were the player in the story? I've got a question about the teamwork in this story. Going in to this I was expecting some elaborate plan where everyone works together. @cid77075 жыл бұрын
@@shanerooney7288 certainly. So telling a story vs a play by play is very different. I once DMing Pathfinder threw at my 10th level party a nasty Bone Golem as a guardian to the portal they needed to go back to the Material Plane from the Plane of Shadows. After suffering the magic immunity of the golem for 3 turns (they were heavy on magic users), the bloody bard casted Grease, and said that it didn't allow Spell Resistance, and therefore, immunity meant nothing (that's how it works).The golem had 8 Dexterity, his Reflex Saving Throw was pathetic, as it was the dice. One way in which I have been able to help my team, in addition to being the tank with 20 AC as a Level 6 fighter with Adamantine Plate Armor and shield, is by having rather good lucky rolls when three or more skills are being used to check something out, like Arcane, Investigation, Nature, and such - my guy has no penalties that need to be tacked on to reduce the number of the roll. If I roll an 18, it's an 18 (if not better) - if someone has a +6 in Nature that gets them a 20, and another has a +7 in Arcane that gets them a 23, I can just use my nat18 in Investigation, and we've just figured out that this mountain we're hiking up isn't acting like how a mountain should, as it's acting more like a level path - oddly enough, this causes the dwarf in the party that's afraid of heights (long story, which involves him having been tossed around a lot, and he's also rather unlucky and horribly scarred) to actually become even more scared, upon finding out said mountain isn't behaving right. In short, if I roll high, I ask who has what skills covered, and I take the skill that's left over. Even if I lack Proficiency in a skill, not having a penalty in anything can be rather handy when conducting an investigation or inspection, plus a bit of luck.

In honesty? That didnt seem too co-op to me. It seemed more of a beatdown with the odd support spell doing what they are supposed to. But they all had fun is the important part. Reason I say that is I have some people I play pathfinder and starfinder with that we have incredible teamwork. We know each others roles, move fight and engage to not hinder another (no just charging in) and have wicked combos. This allows us to keep control of the battlefield and watch eachothers back. Example was an Arcane Archer I played who had secondary high AC play if needed, it allowed me to to move up and protect flanks, we rotate out as needed if somebody is hit hard. A party that really works together to control and support is something grand. Co-op is more than just unloading a bunch of buff/debuff at a boss fight.
@cid77075 жыл бұрын
The story was only a small snippet of the actual fight. It took three sessions to complete. There was a lot of positioning adds spawned by the DM later on, pushing them around with the dragons collective wing attacks and the monk pummeling, shoving, and stunning, with the Bard and I coordinating a lot of aoe effects. Meanwhile the Cleric held on for dear life to the tyrant and kept head butting it.

I think to really appreciate this, you need to picture a titan cr 27-ish 30 ft tall. Now picture him rolling serial 1s and 2s who cant stop dancing and slipping in grease. Meanwhile a tiny halfling monk is standing on him and punching him. It was entertaining. Also, what about the part where the halfling was dangling from grapling hook while the titan was flying. The titan then grabbed the rope and flung him! Luckily, monks have slow fall...

@JJ61019925 жыл бұрын
It's not portrayed well in the telling, but we were coordinating to do it all. From the monk getting launched to spike the death tyrant while I held it for however many turns so nobody would die to it. The dragons were pairing their attacks to do massive damage and the bard and wizard were playing off each other while the Warlock used Eldritch blast to keep little gribblies from climbing up thr ziggurat, pushing them all off.
