Your several reviews and tips about the MP11 was a big part of my decision to purchase one several months ago and I really enjoy playing it. Thank you for taking the time to make the videos about various keyboards and also your excellent covers and originals! I enjoy your channel very much and look forward to your videos!

Thanks Chuck! You played a big part in my research for the perfect stage piano for me. Because of your videos I took Kawai into my consideration. After trying out the action of the MP-11 I knew that there was no way around it. Thanks for helping me with my decision! Next week I'll get my own MP-11. Keep up your amazing work!

Thanks for this excellent detailed review. +1 To work with Synthogy Ivory 2, I sold a Yamaha CLP-470 and got a VPC1 in August 2021. Very happy with it - sits much better with Ivory 2 than my Yamaha did. But I'm also interested to hear of other peoples experiences using different piano libraries with the VPC1 - esp. Synchron D-274 and Spectrasonics Keyscape.

God the gorgeousness of the MP11. sigh. I'm happy with lil brother MP7. More sounds and organ! But that MP11 is a gorgeous beast. I love the action of the MP7 RH2. Its still a beast at 50 pounds. The epiano clavinet and rhodes are all absolute top as well.

Hello. Thank you for your kawai videos. They're very thorough. Can you give me an idea of what kind of speakers I'd need for three mp11se. I'm pretty new and don't know about external speakers. In fact, that may influence my decision not to go with a piano that needs external speakers. Thank you for any help you can give

Have a look at my review of the iLoud Micro Monitors as compared to the built-in speakers of the Kawai ES8: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4Snd3-ia818ZpI

Thank you PianoManChuck. Always enjoyed every one of your videos! Wonder what amp and/or speakers would do justice to the sound since it does not have built in amplification. Just for the home so it does not need to be super powerful. Any ideas from you would be greatly appreciated. Best regards and bless you. Oliver

So do you think the action is better than Roland rd2000? How about CSP 170?

Hi PMC, four years later do you still feel the same about this instrument, the Kawai ES110? Or has Yamaha P515 surpassed them all?

My plan is target mainly to Piano, but MP11SE is quite expensive more than 50% more than MP7SE. Does the long link and wood material make really much difference? (I've hurd MP7SE too much light keyboard and that isn't good for pianists oriented players. Any advice, opinion? Thank you very much

Hi Chuck, enjoy watching your videos! Would you say that the VPC1 and the MP11 keyboard actions are very close? I just ordered a VPC1 and I'm wondering if I should've paid the extra for the MP11 (can still swap/return). I'm purely speaking about keyboard action so ignore all other functionalities of the keyboard. I know the pivot point is moved back on the MP11, but in terms of when you actually sit down and play on either of them, do you feel like there's a significant difference with this change? Or does the VPC1 still feel like a high end grand piano? Sorry for the long question! Appreciate it.

Rory H I recently bought myself a vpc1, after playing both. I like the mp11, but love the vpc1. It’s quite a bit heavier to the touch. The mp11 is a lot lighter to play. I’m used to upright pianos so liked the vpc1 a bit more than the mp11. There definitely quite a difference between them. Both are great though. Vpc1 a bit heavier

Would love the mp11 but way over my budget unfortunately. Kawai make excellent keyboards/pianos.

Hi thank you for the review......... I am thinking of getting of buying a CN27 to be a starter, but it doesn't have the usb flash drive recording. Is there any way to transfer the recorded data inside the piano to the pc ?

Hi PianoManChuck I was wondering if you had any advice on setting up a Kawai VPC1 for someone who is new to midi controllers. I am using the Galaxy II piano software for my sound bank and I have the VPC1 connected directly to a mac to operate the software but it sounds terrible so I just purchased a Zoom audio interface hoping that improves the sound but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm just afraid I've bitten off more than I can chew. Thanks for the help :)
@keska017 жыл бұрын
are you playing via speakers or headphone? you need to try a good pair of headphones, I highly recommend the Audio Technica ATH M50x for your purpose... as I have the VPC1 myself with multiple virtual pianos. Is it a newer macbook? Everything newer than 2014 wouldn't need an audio interface, except you're using studio monitors!

KE Piano I’m using a pair of Bose Quiet comforts that I had no problem connecting directly to my old Yamaha and playing. The controller is currently directly connected to my computer using MIDI and my Bose are connected to the computer and the sounds coming out of it are very poor. Nothing compared to what I have heard of other demos of the galaxy pianos software. I’m really hoping the interface e helps, otherwise I’m at a complete loss of what to do.

Can you describe what you mean by being poor? Like not loud or just doesn't sound like a good nice piano? Are you using Kontakt as your player? Are you using a Macbook or on iMac? The Bose Quiet comfort is a good headphone when connected DIRECTLY into a digital piano, however I have tested 5 different headphones until I was happy with the sound of my Galaxy Vintage D or Ravenscroft or Pianoteq. If you're playing with a macbook, how is the sound through your macbook speakers. Piano frequencies require a headphone that can do the full spectrum of the piano, although many headphones like your Bose are very very good for music they can be challenged with virtual pianos. Describe your issue further, so we can sort it out. Which Bose Quiet Comfort are you using? 25 or 35? Neither of those has such high ohm level requiring an interface. Are you close by a guitar center to test another headphone?

KE Piano Thanks for the help! When I say poor I mean it sounds horrid, nothing compared to other demos of galaxy pianos that I have heard. It sounds muffled and distant and overall terrible. And it sounds the same whether I use my MacBook speakers or my bose QC35. I am using Kontakt as the player for the Galaxy II. I saw that most people use audio interfaces with piano controllers to improve sound which is why I bought one that arrives tomorrow. Until then I’m at a loss of what to do.

Of course, no problem. I have tested V MODA M100, Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro 80 ohm, Shure SRH 440, Sennheiser BTNC 4.50. All these Headphones are in $100-180 price tag. They all sounded amazing with my music, but specifically with my virtual pianos very far away and mudded like you describe it. Your Macbook is actually quite good sound wise, you can also tell with the latency that you have (check your Kontakt latency). It should be low (mine is 4 ms). I know the QC35 is a TOP headphone, however if you have the chance I urge you to try another headphone. Since I bought my headphone just for playing the pianos I highly recommend for you to test the Audio Technica ATH M50x. All my virtual pianos sound great on that headphone. Also you can try to record your playing for instance with garage band and then listen to your recording and see how it sounds then. Hope it helps!

I am about to buy an electric piano and my choices have been limited down to a Kawai KDP90 (Advanced Hammer Action IV-F) and a Yamaha CLP-525. Any tips? How does the KDP90's hammer action compare to the one you've mentioned in this video (Responsive HA)?

@Alan_Chapman8 жыл бұрын
You must clearly be referring to the Clavinova line when you say "thousands and thousands and thousands." The top end of the P series and most of the CP series have a great action.
@Alan_Chapman8 жыл бұрын
And to be fair, some of those Clavinovas are hybrids and cost more than the entry level and mid range acoustic pianos from Yamaha. The strictly digital pianos are much lower priced.
@skylxntrn7 жыл бұрын
Top of the P series is P-255. Sorry, but it doesn't come anywhere near the Kawai counterparts, in either build, sound or key action.
