Thanks for the concern of subscribers. This week or today I’ve picked up 120 odd in 12 hours. Never been done before. I put it down to the click bait style thumbnail. It’s got people watching. The content is there so all I need is people to watch it. I’ll not be doing it all the time though. Janine offers an opinion of mashed salad 🥗. I note the emoji lacks mash on it Janine. Perhaps there is a reason for it or the emoji maker is not from Lancashire. Gavlarrr - correct. Ratio of subscribers to views and creating loyalty views is good by algorithm standards. I think Chris doesn’t have as many viewers because he’s very eclectic. His programs aren’t all about scenes of the channel he’s currently on, but includes interviews , thoughts about life, and a bit more in depth off the road travel than some other sites. It might be a bit more esoteric than some viewers are accustomed. However, I think that his out of the ballpark personality , which is so genuine , will eventually shoot his numbers up exponentially.

Phil here from NZ. As usual another great vlog. Re: your alternator belt if the squeak happens again. On my old mini I used to rub a little candle wax on the V of the belt. Do it while the engine is running at idle and mind your fingers. Not a complete fix but gets rid of the annoying noise until you can investigate.

Easiest way to find your old glasses? Buy a new pair. Then they'll turn up. They're not in your washing are they? (Ask me how I know to ask that!) Edit: Aha! Glad you found them!

@@chrismears-inslowtime Something like this - The Vicar lost his bike. In fact he thought it had been stolen. So he decided to deliver the Ten Commandments in his sermon the next Sunday. He would then look around the congregation when he got to thou shalt not steal, and would work out who looked really guilty, and would then get his bike back. Come Sunday, he started the sermon, working his way through the ten commandments, and when he got to thou shalt not commit adultery, he remembered where he left his bike.

Funnily enough I got a cord for my glasses last week. I have to use reading glasses and they usually sit on my head till needed but hot head makes dirty glasses, so i got the cord. Now all I need is to be told is how to stop them falling off! I tighten the elastic bit but only have to slightly kbock them and they come off the cord!!!! Any help on the most welcome 👍 Plus on on earth can it be a year since you took control of the boat! A whole YEAR. We used to love watching the lads doing the fit out.

I’ve gotten to a point in my life where I look forward to these vlogs being posted. Your camera work and editing are superb. Can’t believe it’s been a year since I attended the launch. You really have come a long way in your relationship to canal life, so hats off to you. Your obvious experiment with Click Baiting made me chuckle…I hope it works, cos you deserve a bigger following. My lower back gave way last month and I’ve been laid up for a few weeks with limited mobility, it is mending, but frustratingly slowly. Your boat is looking superb. It was only when my daughter pointed out to me that I've been speaking to her on it for the past half hour that I realised I had it in my hand. Another great Vlog Chris. I'm not so sure about taking a dip in the canal as you never know what's on the bottom ! Tarrot card readings ! what are you doing all sounds a load of tosh to me and I think you have to be attuned to such things but if your not like that I think it wouldn't make science to those that attuned to such things ! There is a huge Totem pole in Virginia Water Surrey by a lake (Virginia Water ) which I went to many Moons ago when I was a young lad with my parent's and younger Brothers, that's over 55yrs ago now !!!! Been to Virginia Water. Used to be able to climb over the waterfall. Railings over it now. I get H&S but it also spoils the environment. Never dismiss the Tarrot readings. Hi Chris, first time I have seen your Vlog (excellent Vlog by the way) and thought it very apt that your lady friend tried to do a tarot reading for you. I would like to give you my interpretation of what I thought the reading was saying. I hope this doesnt offend you in anyway as this would never be my intention. My comment comes direct from my heart and I only have best wishes for you. This is my thoughts on the reading. Let me know if any of this makes sense to you. I think the tarot reading is saying there is no need to try to control every aspect of life, it's time to learn to go with the flow. You are where you are supposed to be and you are ready to move forward on your next lifes journey, which will need to be more of a spirtual journey for you, but only if you open your heart to growing in this and allow it to be. By learning to become more mindful, you will open up your consciousness more to everything around you. This is what it meant by your head chakra. It's talking about your spiritual growth now....I am not talking about religion by the way. Its about becoming more mindful.....think meditation, deep breathing through your nose, feeling the energy surrounding you. This is quite, deep and maybe something you have never given any thought to before or even think its absolute nonsense??. That's OK, but I feel the universe wants to lead you in this direction, and I feel it is time to start at least giving this some thought. I feel its time to continue on lifes journey so that instead of you feeling you have to control every aspect of your lifes journey, it's time to relinquish part of this to the universe, learn to let things be, and learn to really see the world around you even more. This will ensure you do not repeat mistakes of the past. This will help you become less stressed or frustrated when things don't quite the way you want them to. The phrase, don't worry, be happy comes to mind. Give your worries to the universe to sort out....it will help to resolve any concerns. Next time you see a book on mindfulness or find a site on the Internet that appeals to you, start learning about it. This is a good thing. It probably won't may much sense at first, it didn't with me, but the more you open up your mind to it and think on it, you will start to begin to get it and feel a change that will make you view life differently that will help you to improve your life so much more. But it takes time, and there will be moments where you cant be bothered with it. Thats ok to. You are only at the very beginning of a spiritual journey, but I think this is what the tarot reading was saying. As you grow spititually the tarot radings will begin to mKe more sense to you. They appear generic but you will find them answering questions you have in your head. Now, I don't know you so this may all be complete nonsense, so if so, please let me know and I will delete my comment, and my sincerest apologies to you if this is the case. I do hope some of it does resonate with you. This is not what I do....make comments such as this! So I was quite anxious posting this but felt I needed to. Once again, my apologies and happy to delete if this is what you want.

Thanks for the insight. I’m not fully bought into it but at the same time, not dismissing it either. I’m with my son currently - the older one, who stated I’m more at peace with life. So it’s already happening. I believe there are advantages to the ‘blue’ life. Living on the water creates that and I am a lot more chilled than a year ago. I am starting to enjoy the boat life. It has taken a while to understand it and I’ve still got much to learn. Maybe next time I meet Janine, we’ll have to do another one. Maybe not on film. Thanks for the comment. I used to be very short sighted and was completely helpless if I mislayed my glasses! I pretty much found them by touch. After a bunch of eye problems (Cataracts + Retinas going walkabout etc) I can now read all, but two, of the letters on the eye test chart without glasses. So now that I don't need glasses I can find them!🤣

Top tip: Line the inside of your tyres with gaffer tape (that greyish/silver strong tape). Punctures will be a thing of the past. 🙂

Product that works is BELT GRIP. Sounds wrong but old timers used to hold a bar of soap against the inside of the belt with the engine running. Extremely dangerous but stops slipping belt in emergency.

We have a plan to sell our house and buy either a narrowboat or a wide beam, do you have any experience with wide beams? I'm a little concerned we wont be able to go very far due to the locks

Narra - go most places. More than 58ft can be a struggle on some canals. Wide - spacious. More like a studio flat. More like home. Difficult to go through bridges and you travel slower but if that’s for you, great. I like wide beams. Anywhere there is a double lock a wide can go. The GU is a big canal. The K&A too. Both will keep you busy for a while. If you go north, less traveling I’ve heard. In short you can do north or south not both unless taken out the water. Canals with double locks. I would seriously consider it if I were to buy again. Hope that’s useful.

Oh boy do I know the frustration of losing one's glasses. Not mine of course, but my wife's (soon to be ex). This is a daily occurence for her, if not her glasses then it is something else. I am the one who finds stuff, and I can find anything, from electronic & paper files, glasses, phones, airpods, etc... I once found this woman's diamond that popped out of her ring in the sand at the beach. I got lucky lying down on the beach and caught the glint of the sun off the diamond. She said the diamond was estimated at $10,000.
