Tsunade loved him, and now her past loved, her brother and now her current love. She lost another loved one of hers due to war. I can’t imagine her suffering when she found out. When I first read it, I started to cry because Jiraya was supposed to be this figure that seemed invincible. He was going to die of old age, but instead he just died getting information.

This is my personal favorite moment in the entire series combined 3:11 In a series seemingly devoted to beautiful music to tell stories, this scene has absolutely NO music, no voices in the beginning Nothing. One of the things that made me love the pain arc was cause it was well pain, it showed naruto as a human character feeling sadness it showed a point where he finally broke and gave a perspective on how no matter how much determination and jokes someone can put death is inevitable and how someone deals with it shows who they are or can be. Seeing naruto cry just gives me chills and sets the arc apart from the rest with naruto up till then being like “believe it” and “I can do it” crying for 5 minutes then getting over it.

My dad just died and this scene is something that im constantly thinking about. It sounds corny but it really touched me from the moment i first saw it because I loved Jiraiya’s character but also emphasized with Naruto’s real reaction and grief. I find this scene even sadder than the actual death scene for some reason. Naruto talking about he regrets how he thinks Jiraiya saw him in an unappealing light resonates with me so much. I feel like I didn’t talk to my dad enough in his last few years and only showed him the worst, most uncool side of me. I wish I had more time, but I’m trying to make peace that his suffering in pain is finally over and that I’ll always cherish my memories of him.
