It’s almost indescribable what this show means to me. It’s one of those shows where after watching so many episodes, you stop noticing that you’re even watching 1000 eps. Some days you’ll get a binge itch, and then one day when you finally you catch up, there will be an empty feeling. It goes away but that’s how good the show is. Youll find a lot to love, like and dislike about the show, but that’s what one piece is about, it has something for everyone. Mind you I had to watch the show a second time, to actually start realizing stuff and noticing how much of a genius the writer is. Welcome aboard🏴‍☠️

"People's dreams...never end!" That ending line always give me chills. It's even more significant when you learn who is saying it, and why they're saying it. One Piece is a marathon, but it's well worth it. There are ups and downs with the animation, but I can say that no other piece of storytelling has elicited as many strong emotions in me as One Piece has.

@@MarcIzanagiReacts In my opinion One Piece isn't a marathon at all. People are very daunted by it's size, it's almost like they feel like they have to watch it all in one go. You don't have to watch 1000 episodes. You can just watch as many as you want, and when you get bored, take a break and come back when you feel like watching again. I've had years between some episodes. Of course I'm completely caught up to the manga right now and read chapters as soon as they come out, it's very addicting 🤣To be honest, the story is only getting better and better. I hope you don't feel like you should commit to reacting to all the episodes. Take a break if you need, and I hope you enjoy the journey ♥

I slept on one piece most of my life because I thought the animation looked cheesy. About 7 years ago I had an incident that landed me bedridden. The storyline was so deep and I cared about the characters so much, that the events that happened in the 300s inspired me to return to the world. I am a 50-year-old man and swear this is the best Story Ever Told. His writing is such that its long-term payoff though and that's something you need to realize, every weird question ends up being answered but it might be hundreds of episodes later. You always get satisfaction of the pay off.

Just keep in mind, the animation in the first 100 episodes are from 99 to 2002, so it is a bit dated, but it still great in my opinion. The animation improves greatly as the arcs keep going. Storywise One Piece is unmatched, the worldbuilding and character develpoment are also insanely good. If you are watching and posting reactions here, i'll surely be watching.

Netflix and Studio Wit (Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga, Spy x Family) will redo the entire Anime and it is planned to be very close to the Manga, so no Fillers and endless reoccurring flashbacks which the OG Anime tends to suffer from. 😅 In all honesty, what Oda (the Mangaka) has done in the last 7-9 years is absolutely astonishing. How basically every loose end gets pay-off is something I have rarely seen. By now I think he will leave a noticeable mark on modern literacy, like Stan Lee or J.R.R.Tolkien in the last century.

My issue with many battle series is the fights tend to always be in large, uninhabited areas. One Piece uses each island’s unique design and layout to the benefit of the story and fights.

One Piece is that story that will make you feel every possible emotion. The world is so massive! It's not just a story of pirates against Marines and a hidden treasure, it's about the world, it's history and the people; their dreams, philosophies, hopes and nightmares. It's just an epic, up there with the Illiad & Odyssey, Lord of the Rings, to name a couple. And yes, there are images of there showing every named character in the story....awesome. Once you start the adventure, you'll never look back.

I was also one of those people who said they'd never watch One Piece. The length of the show was daunting, but I decided to finally bite the bullet and start it. I started it mid last year and I'm now current. I could not stop watching! The world of One Piece is incredible, and the story telling is the top of it's class. The laughs, the tears, oh the tears. This is a great introductory video and I always love to see people reacting to it bc the scope of One Piece's world is hard to describe otherwise. There are lots of places and characters, but you don't have to worry too hard about remembering names bc they're usually very distinct somehow so you can keep track of who you need to based on your impression of them, and people know who're talking about if you say something like "pinwheel guy".

Every island you see in one piece is an arc. Even within one island you might find many different kinds of scenery. This gets better and better as the show gets further and further along. The worldbuilding and character writing of one piece are its two best aspects and they are why having such a long show actually works and still feels like its too short. You get the sense there are so many ideas the author had that he didnt work out because he didnt have the time to take yet another detour. Its how he has been able to continuously introduce new characters and places that keep us interested. The biggest surprise to me is that all of it is one big build up for the end of one piece and not just a loose string of adventures. It is one continuous story of luffy and his crew working towards their dreams. The deeper you get into the series the more earthshattering their dreams start to seem. The question of what the one piece is hasnt even been answered yet but the further you get the more you get the sense that it must either be something truly grandiose or something so insignificant it seems too stupid to be true. Until the end of the show we can only wonder

as someone who has watched one piece since over 20+ years, I think it's impossible to avoid the spoilers. Yeah it's going to be worse when the series finishes, but its been pretty bad this past year with so many youtube videos, exposing things in newer episodes. (I like to have a batch of episodes to watch before catching up, and honestly I've had so much spoiled for me lately just by going onto youtube.) - at least there is a turn off notification's option

I wouldn’t worry about remembering characters too much. Oda did an amazing job with unique character designs and memorable personalities and many of the names are based on real people, events, history, and mythology in our world. Also Strong World, Stampede, Gold, and Red are all excellent movies so be sure to catch them when they’re referenced in the show. Most of it isn’t canon but there are some characters that actually are canon to the series and it’s more fun to see them brought up in the story when you got to see them in the films too

For the animation obviously it starts out not great but currently the animation is top tier. But I don't think the start is even bad. It aged surprisingly well. Just looks pretty old school. I think it steps up heavily in the 200-300 episode range and then gradually continues to keep getting better. I think the main reason people are put off isn't because of animation quality but artstyle. The characters are drawn very differently than most shows and the designs are extremely unique so people aren't used to it but it grows on you really quick. It's kinda crazy that there are over a thousand named characters and I can differentiate and remember almost all of them.

I respect your opinion, but as an older anime fan I have a slightly different one. The early arcs are still traditional cell animation and I prefer them to the 250-500 range of early digital style. But I agree that where we are now it looks very nice - if perhaps a bit "Busy" when it comes to effects. (lots of flashing lights - bit hectic imo) Regardless - the anime is overall pretty high in quality for a weekly show. There are people who are far to harsh on it at times.

The animation in some of the early seasons isn’t always the best, true (they’re over 20 years old after all) but that mattered to me for about five minutes. At that point, I was so caught up in the characters and the world I didn’t care about the art style.

I actually feel the art impression of the early seasons is pretty decent. While it is definitely simple and struggles a bit due to the way the story starts off, it has many great moments where you can see that talented directors and animators worked on it. Even if you forget that they 'invented' the way Luffy's moves would look in animation (remember that ancient try-out OVA from another studio which had a way different feel?), there's plenty of special moments too. The Walk stands out obviously, but there's other elements too. In general there are a lot of little things; you just need to look at things in terms of the capacities animation teams in those days had available to them. Look at the way the hair moves when there is movement, or the choice of perspectives and camera angles during a very analog production era. While I won't say that the team was the best ever, I think it was a very decent and capable team that steered the ship at the beginning days. I'll take their work any day over the drama that was.. uh.. how do I refer without episode numbers or spoiling... the second time they left that place they visited twice. The art and animation was outright atrocious during that era of the show when it really should not have been given that the first time at that place looked so much more polished all-around.

As a long time One Piece fan, it feels very special to grow up along with this series bc not only I can see characters' progression along with me, the world of One Piece also progress and expand along too. About the animation and art style, I understand why people put off One Piece when the show aired along with the 2 of the big 3 like Naruto and Bleach, but after One Piece progress deeper and deeper, One Piece touches more and more dark topics that make the cartoony art style kinda soften them for a bit. 1 thing that is really fun to do when watching/reading One Piece and it's the thing the author, Eiichiro Oda, is really good at is foreshadowing. There're so many cameos and topics that brought in early episodes/chapter that will be prominent in hundreds of episodes later. Also, if you wanna dive deeper into the One Piece world, there's SBS corner, which is like a Q&A for fans to ask the author, that has detail about characters, locations, incidents etc. at the end of many manga chapters. If you're curious about some tiny detail about One Piece, you might be able to find from there.

I can guarantee you will love this show. Its truly one of the best pieces of story-telling the modern world has to offer. Id recommend following a list for the filler episodes to skip, after all, it is over 1100 episodes, now, but the filler is only about 9%. The rest is incredible story, action, and so much more. Glad you've enjoyed this :) . Though I will admit, the reason that these scenes across 2 decades of animation look so consistent is that many have been remastered or redrawn. One of the more unfortunate aspects of OP is that, while there's some great art and style, they've kind of refused to increase the anime's budget to modern levels, so currently, outside big scenes, we get shippuden quality animation. Think Might Guy "he moving so fast he's distorting space and time" as leaves gentle waft across the scene. There's certainly eras of peak animation, after all, before Netflix's push, it was the most successful series in the world and stylisation carries a lot too, but they really have to scrimp and hoard the budget right now, because the producers know people will still watch.

Welcome to the crazy! One Piece fandom is a fun place. The show/manga holds a special place for me because I found it when i was in a really dark place and it literally saved my life. There was a time when the only thing that kept me going was looking forward to the new chapter or episode. So yeah, its pretty powerful.

A few things. One, the anime censors a lot. For example, there's a part where a villain with was powers tries to restrain someone, and he makes giant shackles of hardened wax to do so. ...but in the manga, instead of shackles, he makes a giant sword to stab through the guy's hands to pin them to the ground, instead of shackles. Then, there's the far griever damage Whitebeard suffers at a certain point that was highly censored.

new one piece fan in the making? count me in dude, i'll watch your reactions as long as you keep making them! (also, i highly highly suggest watching ahead and editing videos to release after you've already watched the next 10 or so episodes just so you can be extra sure you avoid spoilers. the one piece community is pretty good at not spoiling, but there are some big moments that the fanbase memes on all the time and i don't want those big hits to get ruined for you) oh and don't be ashamed to take notes. in fact, i would ENCOURAGE you to take notes, because there are going to be names and places mentioned in the first 200 episodes that wont show up until near the 700s or even IN THE MANGA, still not animated as i write this! i legit have almost 3 notebooks that are just FILLED with the things i wrote down and crossed out and connected while i was watching, and it helped me dive so much deeper into the story than i thought i ever would. ofc you don't have to, but if you ever feel a little lost please just write stuff down for later.

One of the interesting things about One Piece is that you will learn who is who and you will remember them. Even if you don't remember their name (you likely will) you will remember them. It's something magical about how characters are designed that make them stand out and on their own. As for Naruto - I started with Naruto and I still read fanfics of it even now sometimes. It was after Naruto that I started looking for another long manga to read and I found One Piece (I'd already read Bleach). It's my favourite of the Big Three ever since and has been a huge part of my life. I hope you learn to enjoy it as much as the rest of us do - it's truly something special.

There are a few other videos that a lot of people use to react to about one piece “why you should watch/read one piece” and “the appeal of one piece where to start” both videos are very outdated for some information since they are years old now but the messages are both pretty impressive. One piece of information mentioned in those videos is that one piece has out sold spider man in lifetime comic sales that’s outdated, one piece has outsold Batman in lifetime comic sales with only Superman being ahead of it. Oda the author is in the top 7 best selling authors of all time

I started watching One Piece when it first came out. I loved it, every bit of it, one episode a day and I couldn't wait for the next one. After a few years and several re runs the dub ended and I felt empty until I discovered the subbed version online. Then after another few years I paused watching and I don't really remember the reason why I just watched less and less probably because most of my friends didn't watch it anymore and I had no one to enjoy it with. In hindsight it's kind of a stupid reason but I was like 18/19 and watching anime was still considered weird at the time. After the hiatus it was kind of an on off situation where I binged like 100 episodes or read a lot of chapters in a month and didn't watch for another 3 or 4 months. Then Covid happened and I got back into it for real this time. I read the whole story from chapter one again, watched every episode of the anime and I can't wait for the next chapter, the next episode, the remake of the first saga ... Over the last 21 years One Piece was a part of my life, not always present, but always there. I can connect the animation styles of the show to periods of my life. It made me cry like no other show (FMA Brotherhood is close though) and hyped me up like no other show. I started it for the goofyness and the bad ass fights but now I just want to know more about the world and enjoy the storytelling. Oda created something magnificent, something breathtaking, something to dive into and forget about all the bad things that are going on. All I can say is do it in your own pace and just enjoy the ride. There will be times and arcs that are longer than they should've been and it will take some time to get through them, hell it took me about 6 months to make it through Dressrosa but it is worth it. I would love to watch it again for the first time, without getting spoiled some key moments haha. Have fun on the journey and welcome on board.

Ok so if you dont want to have a bunch of questions when you start and don’t mind a few concepts getting “spoiled” then you should check out the geography of the world , the different types of devil fruit, and the world powers break down then after episode 500ish check out haki and it’s different types this will allow you to focus on the small details and stories in the show and if you want to get more into it you can check out the size comparisons and different races of characters in the show

Many of the things you value in Naruto will probably come up in One Piece. They are both Shonen stories after all. One Piece is a slower burn than Naruto and it dwells on ridiculous comedy more than Naruto does. As such, you may find it takes more time for the story to pull you in. Naruto immediately grabs you with the adventures of Team 7 and Zabuza's arc hits you hard right away. One Piece will feel lighthearted and shallow compared to that in the beginning, but it keeps building, and building, and building, until you are in awe of the lore and world. Also, if you loved the relationship between Naruto and Jiraya, or Shikamaru and Asuma, then you will find similar feels and relationships in One Piece. Naruto feels darker at surface level and there is more in-your-face shock (such as the first time witnessing Gaara's Sand Coffin or the first time meeting Kurama). But One Piece has some deep rooted disturbing evil that is often not shown but implied. The creativity of the oppression and trauma in the world for One Piece is next level and it will make you rage in so many levels. I hope you enjoy One Piece. Its a story that you initially enjoy the gag comedy and light heartedness, but get hit occasionally with insane feels, and as time goes by are amazed by how epic the story is and how much the it means to you. If you give it the time to grow, you will be rewarded with yet another story that will endear your heart and grab your soul.

domt worry bro. my first anime was attack on titan, before that, i always hated anime cuz i thought it was boring, but look, i watched aot and right after it i watched naruto. it was amazing for me, specially the classic. i remember when i arrived on the great ninja war, i was in the highshool and i was every week running to my home at the lunch time to watch naruto in that arc while i eat. dont get me wrong, i really appreciate naruto, mainly the classic one, but bro... after watch one piece when i heard some friends talking about a specific war that i cant talk about, i was in love with this world. for me, one piece is my favorite shounen anime, and one of my favorites with berserk and jojo. it meant a lot to me that days where i was all the day watching a lot of episodes every day. its a awesome nostalgia. can u imagine how i felt happy when i discovered that the own creator, eiichiro oda, said that if the characters existed in real life, luffy, the main one, would be brazilian? (yeah, im brazilian 😂) well, take it slowly, keep in your mind that one piece is different from naruto, it works differently, and keep going watching the episodes, every single one is perfect for me, dont believe on these messages saying "it start to be good on episode 300" or something, just enjoy the ride, and i promise it will really get better and better every arc. i really hope u enjoy, one piece is special for me, and im happy that not only the anime improved even better recently, but the manga still going to crazy, we have a good netflix series too that works well, surprisingly, and theyre producing a one poece remake since the beggining with another studio. well, i talked too much and i dont know if you will read it, but thats it. and sorry, my english isnt that good 😂

And what I can tell you about the anime is that, specially in the early episodes, there are some "semi-fillers" episodes, which I don't recommend you to skip them, but there's also others 100% fillers that won't affect your understanding of the world/story if you don't watch.
