Correction to my older comment I hate this review because it is actually incorrect. This guy didn't do his research. I agree the story mode is a pain in the ass sometimes but, you don't actually have to play it to unlock characters for use in free battle and online. You unlock characters with Storm Point or SP if you get to a certain amount of SP you will unlock a character. You earn SP by doing any battles at all free battle online story mode whatever. What I actually do to unlock characters really fast without story mode is make the difficulty on free battle very easy and give yourself the handicaps. I usually be Rock Lee and fight against Temari and go crazy. If your good you can beat Temari in 20-30 seconds to max out SP use your Ultimate at the end of the fight it usually takes down like half the health bar. keep doing this and you get around 5000-9000 SP every time you will eventually unlock the characters.

It's actually the correct pronunciation of Anime in Japanese though. Japanese "A" is like "ah" while we Americanize it and use an A like in Apple. "Ni" is nee, while sometimes we pronounce the i like in "it".

I just got my copy for christmas (today is the 27th so 2days ago) and i love how they capture the feel of the anime in bossfights. But most importantly the way the game is. It captures the essence of the anime. all anime based games should be done this way. Good job (which ever team/company was in charge of making this) you have proven that with actual EFFORT and not just milking a series *cough* DRAGONBALL *cough* an anime based game CAN be done the RIGHT way.

A quick note. You don't have to play the story mode to have all characters. If you play free battle you'll unlock all characters eventually (It'll take a while). The only character you will miss is an extra Naruto skin

Actually, you don't have to beat the story mode (any part of it) to get any characters for free play. You get characters in the game through attaining ryo. Each unlockable character is unlocked when a certain amount of ryo is earned. If you're dedicated and follow a strict strategy, you can attain all characters in merely two hours.

Here's the thing about this review: 1. the only bad thing he says about the game is that you have to do the story mode to get all the characters, and he takes 2 freakin points off for it. 2. If the reviewer actually did his work then he would find out that you can also get all the characters by getting enough BP(battle points). You get BP by winning matches online(the fastest way)or by playing against the Comp. or another player in free battle. Therefore, the reviewer's only complaint is void.

Simply Collecting 600,000 SP (Storm Points) And You Have Them All (Including Lars) And You Have To Either Battle A Lot With Friends Or Use P2 As A Dummy To Collect Around 10,000 Per Battle. From a true Naruto fan, the biggest problem with the game, hands down, is the limitations on techniques. Characters like Kakashi, Itachi, Hidan and Pain suffer the most from this. In the show these are considered some the best fighters, but are reduced to almost below average. Kakashi can only use about 3 of his dozen moves, Itachi can't use his most used technique tsukyomi and HIdan is supposed to be immortal for god's sake. I want a game that actually sticks to the show better.

Actually, you dont HAVE to play adventure mode to unlock characters. You have to earn points by doing any kind of battle, in almost any mode

Couple of things: 1. The obvious point thats been made already, you don't have to play the story to get the characters, its all about storm points, there is even a character (Lars) that can ONLY be unlocked through storm points. 2. I could swear he said that he enjoyed the adventure mode, with the exception of a few cheesy moments, then why was the adventure mode a minus? It can't be because of the "character unlocking" cuz that was the other listed minus....I just don't know

For an anime fighting game, i think that this game deserves a lot more than 8.0. The whole idea of unlocking characters throughout the adventure mode is supposed to be what this game is all about. that's why they have that mode. The online or vs mode is just there when you're playing with others. And besides, the adventure mode in animes like naruto and dragon ball z are pretty interesting. Bring in someone who actually knows what they're talking about.

Actually, you can unlock all the characters by just playing the free battle mode, my friend and I, unlocked all the characters because our SP in every other battle during vs mode stacks up, so in the end, we unlock characters. The reviewer here, seem to miss that point, and probably didn't play too much Free Battle Vs mode.

It wouldn't be corrupt. It just makes sense. I personally like adventure games. Shooting games and most FPS's just aren't my thing. It wouldn't make sense to have me review CoD Black Ops 2 when it comes out, because i'm obviously not part of the target audience; my opinion doesn't represent the general public or the audience that that game is looking for. Reviews inherently can not be unbiased as they are, in essence, simply one person's opinion.

@KuchingZaz I gave up at 36. Also for a beginner who just bought the game pre-owned today and one 36 fights in a row by button mashing isn't that bad. If you rely on combos and special moves the game becomes a difficult experience with strategy and focus needed, but button mashing makes it easier than blinking.

True, I played the game for a while. It takes a lot of skill to beat others. The only that annoys me is when people use instant transmission constantly and then there's those S++ people that do endless combos at you. Overall it's pretty good. I'm rank D in Standard Ranked match :)

I dont think that playing though the story mode to unlock characters, its actually something i enjoy. To play the story mode, which itself is beautiful and fun, and then see that a character i was playing as or fighting against is now available for me to play as in free battle, its enjoyable. Then again, i grew up with playing the early DBZ games on PS2, which were amazing at doing that.

it would be a good idea for a character design and also instead of having to play the story mode in order to unlock some characters for the online combat they should also be capable of unlocking them though certain hours of online gameplay and or pay some fee extra that would unlock them online but also give you a couple of extra secret characters, some ideas here, also can you adjust the cameras for a further view or is just like that it would be nice to choose the camera distance.

actually there is 1 character you cant unlock without story mode. hokage naruto! after beating the story go to mount myoboku then find the statue there and activate it. you need hokage naruto to get the all character achievement btw

You don't have to play the story to get characters...( i did) But you can just continuously free battle or online battle and earn SP points. Each character has an SP value, once you get that many sp points they unlock. Thusly that was an invalid point.

actually, its not their voices that are annoying..its the fact that in this game, the actors are not even trying to come close to acting...they just read what the paper says and record it...i cant stand that! I think that Bandai didn't really care about this game's multi player. 1.WAAAY too much spam. 2 There should be a consequence for rage quoting because I hate it when I'm close to beating someone and try leave which doesn't give you point or credit no matter how hard you tried. 3 Bandai needs to fix their session finding (for all games) 4 Ranked matches are made of team battles which can be very frustrating fix those and we'll have the perfect naruto game
