Nas is the GOAT. I’ve been saying this since I first heard him ‘96. Never changed my opinion on that even during Nastradamus timeframe because he was still dropping dope mixtape songs and features. Nas never left his prime.

At the point where Nas said "I'm standing on the roof of my building..." its like the song shifted and Nas went to a higher gear. It was like a whole other song came on. Nas is crazy with the imagery. For me thats better than witty word play with entendres. But to each his own.

@@MichelleShow Please look at the battle and not get into 'Man, but who won the war'. End of the day we are fans of music, not Pitchfork or Anthony Fantano to start going into catalogue's. IMO, Nas floored Jay-Z because he attacked who he was as a man and how he moved. Jay-Z went at Nas for not being successful at the time but never who he was as a person (not because he didn't want to but because Nas stayed Nas - humble, respectful, unfuckwithable on the mic). Nas figured JayZ out to the point where he knew what he would do next: ''You pop shit, apologize, just ask Kiss'' Soon after, he went on air and apologized.

Nas has always been a better MC than Jay, but Jay always had far better production and beats. Don't get me wrong, Jay Z is a top-tier MC, but Nas is just on a level of his own. Jay Z got all the singles and dope production, so it's easy and also difficult to compare the two.
@bobt9705
@bobt9705 3 жыл бұрын
Disagree about the far better production. Its definitely closer than you think. Nas production was never trendy and IMO it one of the main reasons why Nas's albums aged very well. SD is actually better than I initially thought when it first came out and the same thing applies to UNTITLED for me as well.
@joshrinehart10

Agreed. Nas was in it for the lyrics/message and Jay-Z was in it for the universal appreciation. Gotta respect both approaches. Nas is on the Mount Rushmore of rappers. Nothing else to say. When you think about Jay, it’s amazing he became this big with that nasal ass voice. Credit to him.
@YerpDerp17
@YerpDerp17 3 жыл бұрын
@@bobt9705 I mean, I am not saying his production was trash, just as I wasn't saying Jay Z's lyricism was trash. Of course they both have classic albums, and are completely respected by anyone who knows anything about music. Of course Nas is timeless, as is Jay Z. But the tone of their music is completely different, even if the lyrical content is similar, and that is based on production and flow. I guess you can say its up to personal preference, but so are most things with music. But me saying one thing to me is better than the other, doens't equate to me thinking the other is trash, or even bad. Just overall, career wise, I think Jay has had better production, just as I feel Nas has had better overall verses. Doesn't mean I think Jay Z's verses are bad, at all lol

@@brianlarkins4250 I think you looking at this from a 'Rapper/Artist' point of view and not the 'HipHop industry' as a whole. Using another rappers style is not because it was INFLUENCED, I call that INSPIRATION. If I say Nas is my biggest inspiration in rap, then I believe by following in his footsteps I can achieve MY OWN GOALS.. But if I say Jay-Z is my biggest influence in HipHop, then I believe if I following his footsteps i can BE JUST LIKE HIM (An Influencer, which can be good and bad).. You probably think im a JayZ fan because of what I said when really Nas is my 2nd favourite rapper after Royce and all JayZ's songs sound the same to me. Nas is 100% a better RAPPER, LYRICIST and ARTIST than JayZ. HOWEVER I cant take away the fact that over the past 20 years Jay-Z has given/raised over $450 million to charity, created thousands of jobs by starting and taking over successful businesses in retail and hospitality.. You literally can't compare any other person in Hip Hop that has done more for others OUTSIDE OF RAP for the HIPHOP community.. And I'm not saying "NAS HASN'T DONE ANYTHING" either because as we both know, even though JayZ has that track "Im A hustler.. Ima ima hustler baby".. Nas is still the REAL hustler he can't go around flashing that cartel money with the IRS lookin over ur shoulder you know what I mean😏If you still disagree that's ok, i still love you!

Have you done any of the tracks on "Distant Relatives"? The colab album by Nas and Damien Marley, If you ever do, i recommend the song "Patience" because I feel like Jnr Gong is underrated lyricist and it needs to be known. Most people only know of the infamous tracks "Road to Zion" and "Welcome to Jamrock" but the track "Patience" hits so fuckin hard with philosophy bars by both of them and the backtrack is mesmerizing.

In order to revisit the beef, you gotta play all the actual diss records to the subliminal diss records. Nas was on his ass, even after ether... listen to eye for eye freestyle, ur da man, got urself a gun, u wanna be me, quick to back down, salute me, to last real nigga alive. Nas was killing jay. Jay has a few comeback disses but they wasn't strong. Some Fans say jay won because he ended up more famous and richer, but that was his race. Nas did his music his way. I've heard jay say he wasn't proud of some songs he rapped. Truthfully he wanted to rhyme like common sense...well Nas was common inspiration and favorite rapper

You cant overlook 50 cent either. Massive amounts of dope music and some of if not the biggest rap album of all time. Guy turned the entire world upside down and the story leading up to it is insane. What makes them think Jay Z won, not the battle just because his got more money than Nas WHAT!! Ooh they say Jay Z won the war but the war is not over yet ,they both still active if they talk about war Jay still drop his shit when Nas Drop clearly his still at war with the God Mc

I like the way Jay rap better personally. Both GOATs. This song in particular Nas did better. You should react to Free Mason. It's a Rick Ross song featuring Jay Z and it's one of my favorite Jay verses of all time. Ross ate the hell out of that beat too

You need to expose Knox hill or crypt next. Knox hill specifically pisses me off since he uses his reactions off of big names to boost his own brand in the beginning of every single video.

I'm sorry but you are sorely mistaken. Ice Cube is the king of Hip Hop. As far as East Coast, Busta Rhymes and Wu Tang rule. Midwest, BTNH, Tech N9ne and Twista. Southside I would say OutKast and Ludacris. But in my opinion, Westside is the best side.

I watched all your beef revisited jay z And Nas drops I thought they were fire And tho I'm more of a Jay-Z fan I wasn't biased but to say Nas Outwrapped Jay-Z on this one is wild Nas didnt go as long or as hard pause I love Nas flow That's about the only thing that makes him and Jay-Z close to me But when you add the fact that Jay-Z has just As nice of a flow plus he throws in double triple quadruple entaundras metaphors half The things he says means more than one thing While nas is usually just a flow with a couple punches here and there Then add in the fact that j don't even write his bars And is running 16 different Businesses while Nas was basically Dormant Most of his career Had plenty of time to write the illest shit didn't really start getting into business until he linked up with j or j signed him Not trying to hate I love Nas flow I just think honestly it's not really close.
