Listen to the song Daughters. He was 41 when it came out. First of all, it features some of his tightest rhymes since Made You Look. Yes, it's that good. But the content is also mind blowing. Who else writes a song in any genre about being a parent to a teenager? I can't think of anyone. Yet Nas does this and knocks it out of the park without sounding silly. Fucking brilliant.

2:59 that's what he does! Listen to his new album it's all Dad stuff; his wishes for his kids, the names of different entre's, investing in land... Not hating though he's catering to me!

Although Black Star introduced me to Hip-Hop and coming from a country where Hip-Hop is no where near common, Nas has always been my favorite artist. I still have Good Morning playing almost every morning I wake up. Happy belated birthday, sir.

“speak with criminal slang”… “i’m waving automatic guns at nuns” illmatic is a timeless masterpiece ahead of its time came out the same year i was born 1994 crazy to think about but nas helped me transition over to hip hop back in the day from being a metalhead all my life playing guitar(and still keeping it brutal) but my life changed when i heard illmatic guys like big L mobb deep wu tang aesop rock will always be my favorite style of hip hop. i’m from the west coast and i get a lot of shit when i say this but 90s east coast underground scene was by far the golden era in hip hop nothing compares! i’m a hardcore metalhead always will be those are my roots but New York 90s rap will always have a special place in my heart. thank you nas, big L rip, prodigy rip, mf doom rip, ol dirty bastard rip, etc.. for changing my life. word is bond keep it brutal keep it gangsta:)
