Big puns 2nd album was trash but it was made of records that didn’t make the first album so it’s understandable. And in my opinion both probably would have been underground or big pun would of went full on commercial on some fat joe shit. But especially Big L… he would of been like Kool G Rap or canibus. Once rap became pop he wouldn’t have been able to make hits to be on any type of charts
@metalfacedoom4820
@metalfacedoom4820 Жыл бұрын
@@IBE2010 Yeah puns second album was questionable but as you said it's understandable. It wasn't like biggies second album where it was already recorded. I think it's hard to speculate where L would of went. He started his own label and was doing all the right things. Jay Z came out a year after L, I doubt he would of seen Jigga success but it's possible.. I honestly think he would of been seen in the same light as Nas today. But who knows, it's a shame.

Flex went too far. Big L didn't complain because he knew that track was subpar. Big L's lyrics on MVP were so much better than the track. He was incredible. Made every rapper in NY upgrade their rhyme book. It was the One More Chance loop but the beat was sloppy. If Big L had a better producer on that (like BIG did) it would have been a bigger hit. Puffy made sure the beats were smooth and high quality. If Big L was on Bad Boy he would have been a mega star.

He just needed more time and to get bigger and he would have been dropping some of the best tracks of all time year after year, it's such a loss we never got all that, how often do you get someone who can write like that, flow like that, come with that level of intensity and creativity, be that genuinely intimidating... man why'd it have to be him

@@jamescampbell720 🤣 Yeah let's bring up ether like Nas was speaking all facts. Lemme guess Jay was actually 36 and Rockefeller did die of aids too? 🤣 Stop taking things so literally my guy and use your head. The reason Jay's hated has nothing to do with his lyrics, it's the fact he's been too good for long, too rich and is with Beyonce. To quote another Nas line "people hate what they can't conquer" and Jay's inconquerable. I mean how you fuck someone's baby mama, be way richer than them and end up being their boss and still lose a battle in the eyes of the fans? It's hatred plain and simple, that's why they bring up the lyric thing or his looks or whatever because really that's all they've got 🤣🤣🤣

For ME....Big L is top 5 dead or alive. I don't care his style influenced soooooo many other rappers its silly bro. I probably just started listening to hip hop in 1993 with Wu Tang, Black Moon, Eric Sermon.....and 94 had even more with Biggie and Nas dropping huge albums, Gangstarr, Warren G, MOP, Method etc....but in 1995 in a year of really great music- Big L's shit stood out even from the rest of the NY rap scene. He was a different animal. Then his shit with Children of the Corn with Camron and Mase...... I wasn't super tuned in to the news back then, and in 2000 when the Big Picture dropped....I didn't know he had passed until I listened to it.....and my world shook. That year had so many insanely good albums- Outkast- Stankonia Em- Marshall Mathers LP Ghost- Supreme Clientelle Nelly- Country Grammer Busta- Anarchy De La Soul- Artoficial Intelligence Jurassic 5 Quality Control Big Pun- Yeaaaah Baby Dilated Peoples- the Platform Ludacris- Back for the First Time Prodigy- HNIC Cannibus- 2000BC Jedi Mind Tricks - Violent By Design Scarface- Last of a Dying Breed Lox- We Are the STreets Reflection Eternal- Train of Thought Common- Water Like Chocolate MOP Warriorz .......I've listened to The Big Picture more than those combined over the years......and I love this entire list. This was the true golden age man. And he stands above them all imo. He would have been considered the greatest rapper of all time with just 1 more album that was near this level. Damn..... RIP Big L

For every Egyptian God there is a Greek equivalent. Some believe artists too follow this formula I tend to agree. L kicked the door though the rest followed. Big L had the "One More Chance" beat before Biggie but somehow, before it got released, someone in Big L's camp must've done some slimy shit and gave it to Diddy and they dropped "One More Chance" before Big L could drop "MVP". So he had to change the whole beat on that record because "One More Chance" was a great success and the label probably felt that "MVP" wouldn't have had the same impact as "One More Chance".
