Nas wasnt 18 when he dropped illmatic. If you listen to Lifes a B he says he's 20 in that song alone. Illmatic came out early 94 that makes Nas 20. He might've been 18 when he started recording Illmatic.

People need to realize there were TWO meetings. The first time, Nas was only with a couple dudes and Pac was deep when he stepped to Nas. Nas calls up the homies from QB, which is about a 20 min subway ride to central park. That's when Nas rolled through with the whole QB strapped and Pac bowed down and they chopped it up.

They are both great, why is there always a competition? Nas is a great artist and so was pac. ppl think that being the bigger man is about running up on someone but stuff like that is either going lead to two places no disrespect to pac. But nas is 38 and still making music for being wise, it takes a real man to know what's not worth dying for and for making peace.

Justin Scott You mean Nas was inspired by Pac right? Nas was hardly a somebody, and Tupac was like the top of the game. But yeah, Nas is lying. He's referring to the MTV Music Awards in 96, Hussen Fatal was telling the truth, as you can even see the video Tupac was rolling with a ton of dudes.
@alexstafonis1763
@alexstafonis1763 9 жыл бұрын
Nas was hardly a somebody? He may not have been as famous as Tupac and Biggie at the time, but Tupac had to be stupid to believe he'd be able to battle it out with Nas without some casualties along he way. Nas was considered more of an underground rapper at the time, he became more commercial after Tupacs and Biggies deaths, especially during the Jay-Z & Nas beef. But to cut it short, I believe Nas is a better rapper than Tupac. None of Tupacs albums can even come close to Illmatic, not CLOSE.
@rtc7788

Alex Stafonis Nas' album sales at his best couldn't even sell half of what Tupac's albums were selling in the mid 90's. Not saying Nas is a bad rapper, but if he's so good and above Tupac level, why is he hardly relevant now?

@jignaeri Nas said he stepped to tupac and suge so go check out that interview of Suge knight on Nas. Suge also says tupac stepped to Nas but he also says something else, they had a cool conversation. Which means they probably did have that conversation. So basically idk if the interview with snoop is a different occasion or maybe a lie. I think it's the same occasion but Nas didn't bother to address Snoop.

+JAY OH Similar style? No. Nas was way more intricate and lyrically better. 2Pac had a more simple style, he put his message on a platter, was easier to absorb and understand. Would they collaborate good? Yes, but not because they have similar style, more so because they usually rap about similar subjects and both are great storytellers.

Dude, illmatic. Pac has not one album superior to illmatic... in Mcing!! Dude Pac was a revolutionary period. But it was not off the strength of his dexterity on the mic. His soul, his passion, his voice, his energy... highly emotive and inspirational. Nasir is the far superior MC of the two but NO rapper influenced the urban world like pac, you're right on that. Which brings me back to subjectivity. ILLMATIC is the thriller of hip hop and then some, imo

There were 2. One at the House of Blues and the other one at the MTV Awards in NY. Both scenarios Pac rolled mad deep. He had 40 dudes with him. You can see the video even. Pac had dudes with Death Row East signs.

And it's evident in both's word play. Nas rhymes are more complex, abstract and well thought out. Pac's thing was connecting with his listener and his rhymes were more straight to the point. This doesnt make one greater than the other. Pac could tap in to the listeners emotion likely better than any other. But Nas is the better writer. And as I've said before Pac is bigger than rap. I feel like he just used rap as a platform to reach the "lost souls".

Suge said that Tupac broke bread with him. So I think Pac actually liked Nas after he met him. Tupac said "let all the rappers rock it" talking about Nas and Wu Tang.

on "When Thugz Cry" Pac says HE stepped up to Nas , he saw him alone and Nas said "it aint no problem" and shook hands , Pac said he was deep with his boys he could've rushed Nas had he wanted to, but they chopped it up. so Nas just lied about the part where he say Pac shook HIS hand thats it. but before Pac died he did squash the "beef" with Nas and was about to remove the Nas disses from "Killuminati" but he died.

Yeah, that's why Nas did a tribute on stage wearing a Tupac bandana and Tupac shirt rapping "Dear Mama". Yeah, that's why Nas made a remix to Thugz Mansion. Yeah, that's why Nas got a similar Thug Life shaped Tattoo on his stomach and was swagger jacking Pac's style in "hate me now" and "Did you ever think" cause he lost respect for Pac. Same dude who admitted he cried when he heard Pac diss him in Against All Odds.

i heard so many diff stories about this instance, snoop says nas had more people with him (but i dont believe shit of what snoop ever says) fatal says he brung 150 people from jersey who some were screaming right in nas's face ready to kill him and nas was pretty much shook. johnny j said pac wanted to go back and take nas's name out of the songs after this. which i dont think he would of did i think he said he wanted to release them how they were and told nas not to respond

Right the outlawz weren't on his level but remember Hit Em Up wasn't just aimed at Biggie he dissed Lil Kim, Lil Cease, Mobb Deep and "Chino XL" so that's why he included the Outlawz. Also, that diss "kiss goodnight" Biggie is just throwing lyrical jabs at the end of the day Hit Em Up was better because Pac brought Facts to the Table he knew how to go to war Biggie mentioned benz and tvs in his car in that diss come on fam but I agree with you I like em both. I see the true talent in both artist

if u listen to more of Pac's interviews he says the same thing Nas said in this interview that they respected each other but then artists collabing with Nas still thought there was still beef between them so they dissed Pac, and he accused Nas of talkin shit as well, its a shame these two Legends didn't collab

Suge and Pac told a different story. Tupac confronted Nas at the Mtv music awards and said "Yo you got a problem with me?" And Nas was like "Hell no I don't have no problems with you" and they shook hands and talked about doing some shit together,
