They didn't just tested if the impact would change the trajectory, what they really needed to know is if they could hit the ateroid in the first place. Like others are saying, is like hitting a bullet with another bullet with months in advance. If another asteroid comes towards us, we need to know how reliable this method is.

You really need to understand the scale of the speeds the collision happened at. The last fully transmitted picture came 1 second before impact, and the satellite was 7 MILES AWAY! It traversed 7 miles in 1 second (relatively)! Imagine trying to hit a bullet with another bullet, that is the speed and scale we are looking it.

My friend’s mother in Zaporizhzhya region has voted “no” to join ruzzia. They saw her voting paper and threatened her. Hopefully, she ll be safe. Many people left from the occupied territories. My company has mandatory 2 days a week some teams chose Tue and Wed and mine chose Wed and Thurs. This means everyone is in the office on Wednesday which allows us to have in person meetings or events on Wednesdays. I am actually for it because it’s important to have actual contact with coworkers so you can learn and improve. I’d chose to go back full time if I didn’t have an elderly dog at home. I’m more productive at the office. (But we’re all more productive at home than they thought we’d be pre-pandemic).

Plus, the only reason they force office workers back to the office is to micromanage tf outta y'all. Funnily enough the 5 day week was actually a thing in Soviet russia during the time of Lenin where in every person will work 4days get 1 day week end and the week will be staggered so 80% of the employees will be working all the time. It failed because people could not spend weekend with friends and family. Also the nonstop working of the machines meant it was not possible to conduct routine maintenance of the factories and machines that used to happen in the Sundays

Tbh, i thought it was nonsense when someone told me 15 years ago the same thing. But now I'm shocked. Apparently this 'discovery' was made centuries ago by some Indian safe. It's even in ayurveda which is practiced nationwide in india. There is a point of this "referendum" and somehow everyone is missing it. It's not about democracy in these parts, but about what Putin is allowed to do, looking from the domestic point of view. Of course this voting is a sham, but Putin officially still needs to follow their laws and play the part in accordance with current narrative and marketing (propaganda) at home. If these parts of Ukraine "suddenly" become a part of Russia, then it is seen as a "defensive war" and not a "special operation" any more, which allows Putin to use nuclear weapons, like, officially.

NPR article: NASA officials stressed that there was no way their test could have turned either of these space rocks into a menace. "There is no scenario in which one or the other body can become a threat to the Earth," says Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator for the science mission directorate at NASA. "It's just not scientifically possible, just because of momentum conservation and other things." Instead, the impact should slightly shorten the time it takes for Dimorphos to orbit its bigger asteroid pal. Right now, a full circuit takes 11 hours and 55 minutes. The DART impact should change the path of Dimorphos so that it moves closer to the big asteroid and takes less time to go around, doing so perhaps once every 11 hours and 45 minutes.

As a teacher, 3 days of work and 2 off would be perfect. Not only would it be nice for over-worked teachers but the kids also wouldn't get as burnt out by the end of the week every week.
