It is fascinating to live in a unique period of human history where we are the first generation able to see images of the surface of another planet. How lucky we should feel also to live on Earth, after seeing the totally barren surface of Mars.

Absolutely stunning! ❤ Only comment I have is that it would be great if they could give us a sense of scale for some of these rocks or hills. I've noticed from other Mars images and videos that it can be very misleading sometimes and I'd like to know if only just to get an even better sense of immersion.

Unfortunatley no. NASA did a paper in the '70's about terraforming Mars. Even if you melted all the CO2 ice at the poles, it would only warm the planet by a few degrees Kelvin. So much for CO2 being an agent of global warming.

@johncanalese588

The radio transmission delay between Earth and Mars is not constant and varies due to changing distance due to their orbits. It varies between 4 to 24 minutes each way! Operators on earth therefore don’t dynamically control the rovers. Programmed points to visit and visual scans etc are sent but the rovers are autonomous to a large extent.

@@ph5056 Nothing funny about it. Earth and Mars formed in the same area from the same materials and looked very similar early in their history. Mars once had rivers, lakes and seas. It also had active volcanoes and a thicker atmosphere. Only later did it lose all these and turn into a global desert. So, there's no wonder that Mars looks like some deserts on Earth

Beautiful photos! I would like to know the geology of the terrain. What is the history of the multiple strata of the hills, etc. it’s why we need mankind to travel there ! Elon, keep working on it and I wish I could join this adventure.

It's colored distortion on the video to make it look like you're looking at Mars but you're actually looking at a desert in the southwest of America.

It is amazing, but it’s hard to imagine that there is nothing here, no plants, no moss, nothing growing at all. Even in the harshest region on Earth you would find some evidence of life. It is sad to think it is so bereft of life…so very, very lonely 😢

Fantastic pictures how long has Perseverance been on Mars and how long would it take for these images to transmit back to Earth. Thanks
@PracticalPlanet
@PracticalPlanet 18 күн бұрын
As of 2 September 2024, Perseverance has been active for 1258 sols (1,292 Earth days, or 3 years, 6 months, and 15 days ) since landing on Mars. Transmission: The transmission rate is 8 1/3 bits per second. It can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours for a high-resolution, color image to arrive from Mars to Earth. The time it takes depends on the relative positions of Earth and Mars. Thanks and stay tuned for more 👍❤️

300 years after the great war the previous worldnis forgotten and a new civilization is born and begins to have technological advancments looking into space and looks at mars and sees signs of life. Tire tracks and what appears to be a machine. All indicating that there was life on mars. Never realizing it was just earlier civilization from earth. Crazy
