@JoelTM347 I am a Chinese, I have to say, the American scientists have done a lot for the whole human race's benefit by doing research on subjects like the one in the video. All people should thank them.

So, what would've happened if that X40-something flare DID hit the earth? Global blackout? Is there a maximum to the power of solar flares? if so, what would happen if a flare with maximum power would hit earth?
@Kennyancat8 жыл бұрын
+EnderBolt A big solar storm that hit earth in 1864 was estimated to be a X-23 or more. Ground based electronics (though few at the time) sent sparks flying everywhere and caused fires. It is thought that if a similar one like in 1864 were to hit earth again, global blackout for about a month, planes would fall from the skies and it would be chaos especially in urban areas (no sanitation and no water due to it all being powered in cities and most towns). A X-40 would be really bad as you can imagine. No maximum to the power as far as I know, just the consequences would get worse for humans. Edit: The event I was actually thinking about was in 1859 called "Carrington event" and that was an esitmated X-40.

+EnderBolt (Sarcasm) It's all fake, NASA liars. The Earth is flat, and the sun is a lot closer, and smaller than you think. Antarctica is really a giant ice rings, that outlines the circumference of the Earth. The Aurora phenomena aren't solar winds hitting our atmosphere. They're either the handy work of Satan, or it's Project Blue Beam. "Don't let 'em fool you," - Bob Marley.

(3) and indicator that these proton eruptions must happen deep inside the sun/ near its core?. The proton event on 20110308 occured after the sun activity had risen for three (hot and dry)weeks without any larger flare or CME same with latest events in 2012- gravity increases? Also proir and after to dec 26 2004 there were several strong proton STORMS mostly followed then by larger eruptions .
@lighttowers12 жыл бұрын
@nasa. (1) in this viedeo you don`t refer to coronal mass ejections. There was f.i. an about 30° earthward directed X 8 flare in 2011, from which everyone expected it would create a large CME .But there was nothing at all. as it seems by comparisation: as larger the flare as smaller the CME.I started to follow these solar activities, after it became obvious that the Honshu earthquake on 20110311was anyway related to two major CMEs those arrived the days before.

(2)all impacting CMEs effect on the tectonic plates and rise volcanic activites and eq, even storms as all statistics showed but much larger flares did nothing comparable to the Honshu quake .It took me a while and some data reviews until it became clear. The mar 08 cme was accomponied by a seldom PROTON STORM. . the last proton outburst occured along with a backside eruption on Nov 08- 2012 But protons were emmited into all directions and without any Earth directed CME

@heartlessvietboy : The best "map" to look at for that would be a globe of the world. The Pacific Ocean takes up nearly half our planet. The Earth is indeed about two-thirds covered with oceans and seas -and rather misnamed! We should have called our world "Water" instead. ;-)

So how will the Earth prepare for sunspot AR2665 when it rotates back around to face our planet? The CMEs it put off last Sunday and this morning look like what destroyed the Earth in the movie Knowing. Does NASA have any plans to warn the public within the next 10-14 days?

@WakingUpFast complete failure for all unprotected or non shut off devices, satellite failure, cell and wireless communications failure, power grid overload. A real SHTF situation for the affected area of the CME. a lot of preppers believe a x class may wipe out the grid due to the suns activity, seeing as its nearing another maximum.

I mean, that energy gets thrown out into space along with matter, eventually that energy and matter does become other things. So it's not completely wasted.
