SpaceX is clearly ready, but the FAA wants to play games. By the time late November comes around SpaceX could easily have 3 to 4 additional ships ready to go. ridiculous that we very easily could’ve had at least four starship launches this year, but we will be lucky to have just 3. the FAA keeps holding all of us back. At this rate Artemis III won’t happen til 2031.

The FAA has never had the resources needed to do the work it is expected to do. Either congress reduces the laws and regulations it has to follow, or give it enough money and man-power. They can't be expected to do miracles.

Das, according to Mammoet's website: "Self-Propelled Modular Transporters consist of modules with 4, 5, 6, and 8 axle lines. Load capacity differs per version, with a maximum of up to 44 tons per axle line. Each module can be fitted with its own engine and control (steering) system. The modules can be connected side-by-side and/or head-to-tail, to form large ‘platforms on wheels."
@jpleroux91
@jpleroux91 Ай бұрын
SPMT (Self-Propelled Modular Transporter) units are modular transport vehicles commonly used for moving large and heavy objects. SpaceX uses them to transport heavy equipment such as rockets and spacecraft components. Typical dimensions of an SPMT unit: Width: Around 2.43 meters (8 feet) Length: Usually 6 to 12 meters (20 to 40 feet), though it can vary based on configuration. Height: Roughly 1.2 meters (4 feet), adjustable to fit different transport requirements. SPMTs are modular, meaning multiple units can be connected side by side or in length to accommodate the size and weight of the load being transported. They can support massive weights, often ranging from hundreds to thousands of tons.

An industrial robot is usually fixed to a concrete slab/floor. The ship QD is rotating around a hinge with a long arm (at an angel), with multiple fluid lines. Even the tower flexes. No fixed point of reference. No robot can do that with the precision of a factory robot. It is impressive that it can connect to the ship on its own.

👍 SPMT - A module would be any part not connected to the controller portion, as soon as it's connected it loses that status. You don't count em', you just buy more if you need em', simple as that.

I think ready for flight means 100% constructed. There might be other tests SpaceX wants to do before a flight but those are pre-flight checks that get done when they've got a launch window, and not something that is useful to do months before liftoff. Like pre-flight checks in a plane when you're sitting on the runway ready to go.

My thoughts on SPMT counts. And I admittedly know nothing about them. 1) How many SPMT power packs (my word) does SpaceX have? i.e. the part with the generator to power the SPMT. 2) What is the minimum number of modules required to carry anything useful? 3) How many modules does SpaceX have on site? From there one can probably derive what the max number of SPMTs they have.
