Great meeting you for a picture at the meet up! Also fans could purchase a Pre-Race concert ticket to go down on the track, it was also different from the Fan Walk, where they had a turn 4 station and allowed fans to walk behind pit road

Did you enjoy the race? I was over in sec 124 r7 s9. it the first I have every meet any one who knew who Wally Sr was. we talked all about his racing. He race in every thing. you name it he did. even drag racing. he was on my paper routes. he was the one that that turned me on to NASCAR in EARLY 70's. This was before I meet Big Daddy and Don the Snake. What blow my mind was he move below Cherry Hills in straight line from where we live. My dad got some wild idea if told me where he moved to that I would get into racing. he was a great guy but that was not my thing by then. my bro in mid-west SCCS AS. it nothing for him to drop $15K+ on a motor.

COT wings…..I started following NASCAR during the COT era, and at the time, didn’t really think much of it. But looking back….those wings were just effing ugly. I now understand why so many NASCAR fans hated that car. I remember during one broadcast, Darrell Waltrip mentioning they should scrap the wings and put spoilers back on the cars. Oddly enough, once NASCAR did just that, JJ started struggling after his 6th championship. He had one great “swan song” season in 2016…always winning when it was really needed…including the finale at Homestead.
