Burton not winning a championship hurt more because back then if you didn’t win it, you lost it, you came up short. I think that Denny is in a different position entirely. The way the “playoffs” are set up, guys like Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick, even Chase Elliott have had the best seasons and not won the cup because of circumstances that were out of their control. It’s much more of a crap-shoot than it was before. Think of it like this, you have to compete in two events, one is a one-on-one basketball game, the other is a coin-flip. Which one would feel better to win? Is it the one that you had to physically try to win, or the one which was decided by chance? If you’re going to decide your championship with one race, there is no real champion. Not when things like flat tires or broken valve springs can decide the whole thing.

Totally fair.
@stephenullman45343 ай бұрын
@mlwilliam213 I've got to agree with you on this. There needs to be a better, more fair format. If they just have to have a "playoff" then make it realistic. Perhaps a 3 or 5 race shoot out for the four drivers in the top four spots. I don't know. Still seems weird to me that the entertainment part of this is supposedly "what the fans want". Not too sure I agree with that. I just want racing. Period.

What most of these commentators, in their ignorance of the law, miss is that what NASCAR does/says at this point is of NO CONSEQUENCE in the question of whether those teams will exercise the rights of charters next season. That question is now in the hands of the courts as they rule on the request for injunctive relief and any subsequent appeals. There is almost nothing NASCAR can do right now to improve its legal position, but retributive acts like taking charters can definitely hurt their position by reinforcing claims they are abusing monopoly power. Most should not report on the issue without consulting an attorney with subject matter expertise, but most reporters do not know one because it's a very specialized field with relatively few experts.

I've been saying for years that NASCAR has become a sh$t show. All too many have accused me of not being a "true" fan. "So don't watch, nobody will miss you" they say. My response to all of you naysayers is this: No "TRUE" fan wouldn't be pissed about what has become of a once pretty good race association. No "TRUE" fan can honestly continue to support such utter nonsense, incompetency, inconsistency and outright stupidity. The empty seats prove my point. Have your NASCAR. I'll be back when they finally got back to real racing and cut the bull. Sadly, I don't see it happening in my lifetime. Nor my grandsons. Sad...sad...sad.

They’re a mid running team and with a veteran like Bret Moffit, he gave em good info but once he left, that put Hailie a rookie on an island by herself with a 2 year old team. Remember,even Kurt Busch struggled in the 78 car but got it good enough for Truex to run competitively. I’ll be rooting for her for sure.

The 15 team is the worst team in all of NASCAR. The only good finishes came with Logano driving and I guarantee the cars were prepared by Penske, not the 15 team, may have even been Penske cars. After Deegan left, in two races the car was instantly behind due to junkyard sparkplug wires being used. In another the LR tires kept getting cut due to poor clearance. The team is not there to compete, they are there to make money and obviously are somehow, I suspect Ford pays the bills but no clue why, maybe testing parts?

I think Deegan is making the right move here. NASCAR just isn't ready or mature enough to have a female driver in the cup series. Or Exfinity. She was literally blatantly taken out in at least 4 races that I saw. And many more in the truck series. NXT Indy is a good fit for her. I think she will be better treated, and since there are no fenders to use to move the car, she will have a better chance at doing well. I also believe that the Indy drivers are a little more accepting of a female. But she will need good coaching. She does have talent. I believe she just needs a fare shake.

@TheCrazyMoparDude683 ай бұрын
No, there just hasn’t been a female that could actually compete in NASCAR. NASCAR is one of the most grueling forms of racing there is. Even though the cars are easier to drive today, they still take a lot of strength and endurance to drive one. And it only gets harder as you go up the ladder and race longer races. Even guys that are in really great shape and work out have trouble dealing with the physical demands and the punishment their bodies go through while running a 500 mile race. Very few women have the strength, endurance, and the skill needed to race in the top NASCAR divisions. Females do well in racing that is less physically demanding and are “shorter”, that is why there have been several really good female drivers in drag racing.

Sawyer's comments about camera angle are a complete dodge. The question should be: Why did it take so long to throw the yellow? NOT... why did the lights not clearly show instantly it was before Klingerman crossed the line. 15 seconds no yellow, then it became imperative and urgent to make sure Kilngerman didn't win, just in the nick of time to stop him. Just to remind everyone. Sawyer is the guy who showed us a picture of Hamlin clearly jumping a restart on MTJ, and called it good. No Credibility. But at this point, who in NASCAR hierarchy does? NASCAR has been 'negotiating' with teams for a year with little progress, then plops a document on teams and tell them to sign it today or loose their charters. And THAT constitutes fair negotiating tactics to them, but 23xi refuses to be bullied, and that amounts to "extortion" WHAT!
