NASCAR Legends | Daytona Beach Winning Car "Cherokee Garage" | NASCAR History | Highlands, NC

This '39 Ford is dripping with Daytona Beach NASCAR history. Driven by Gober Sosebee, "Cherokee Garage" won at the Daytona Beach Course in 1949, 1950, and 1951. Check out the leaf spring roll bar, simple gas tank, and floating truck hubs! This NASCAR legend was powered by a beefed up flathead Ford V8 with Offenhauser heads and a truck radiator. But first, we spot a '33 Ford truck hauling an Old Town birch canoe. This home-built truck is powered by a 289 engine out of a '67 Mustang. The truck has been in the family 55 years and was given an incredible restoration. Check out the secret storage space in the spare tire! After that, we find a '62 Lotus Super 7 which is the first English kit car. You're really connected to the road at 1020 lbs with a 1500cc Ford Cortina engine, magnesium wheels, and wooden steering wheel. Finally, we look at a '74 Alfa Romeo GTV that was bought new and thought to be one of the last brought into the US. Bertone styling, a comfy interior with a twin-cam 2 litre engine and mechanical fuel injection make for a fun ride!

Whwen i was a teen I drove a 39 Ford Standard which had also been a race car, no interior ,48 Merc Bored,stroked to 296 Cu. in, 36 trans and triple 94's. Great fun back then..

Very early in this video, was a pink/ gray '55 Chevy Sport Coupe. I rode in one just like it in 1959. I was 2 1/2 years old and I just love that car!!!!

A "feature" of the pre-crossflow English Ford engine is the placement of the carburetors directly above the exhaust pipes. Always want the fire extinguisher handy!

Seriously you are more likely to see an Australian made piece of Caterpillar heavy equipment, than any car or truck, and most Americans would never even know it.
