If there is one thing that both Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. cared about when they raced, it was the safety of their competitors (Ally or Foe). The Intimidator would bump you, or possibly wreck you, but he cared about everyone's safety.

I mean, I really don't think Sr. was like that. There's more than two instances where he's hurt others on the track (i.e. broke DW's ribs twice in a few years by just deleting him) but we can ignore that. Not many people actually knew Dale Earnhardt, so that's what people are going to say. (I have family that worked for him)

@@aaronkristofer18 Depends on the track and the driver. Earnhardt was a true racer, and if you wanted to be a true racer, you took lessons from him because it was to show that you aren't showing all of your true colors, talent, and whether you need to changes to yourself such as using a little bit more of your car than how you usually wheel it.

The "selflessness" shown was that KB and CE were not on good terms 4 days prior, yet when Chase pits and essentially gives the win away, KB was the first driver there to try to pick his spirits up because it was a crappy situation. That situation was basically, pit for fresh tires and have people behind you stay out, or stay out and have everyone else pit to try to beat you on tires. Either way, he was going to have a hard time at the end there, and his Crew Chief made the wrong call for the situation which is something KB can relate to. It was just a show of sportsmanship and care for another driver that was literally giving you the finger 4 days before that.
