I was born in 85, I didn't watch racing until the end of 02, I like watching these Races, I watch each Year on each Day a Daytona 500 right up until That Years Race. So:.. This Year will be the 66th running of the Daytona 500, I start watching them on KZbin the one Year prior, And then the one of this or which ever year it will be live.

I didn't start watching NASCAR until after Davey passed away ('95ish I was 6) but my grandfather had those old 1993/1994 Season in review VHS tapes that I must've watched a hundred times so I sort of knew the importance of Daveys short career as well as Allen K's. Plus my grandfather was a big fan and I vividly remember him having black 28 stickers on the side of an old truck and a collectors clock with Davey and the car. Then when I got older and looked into the history of the sport for myself I was amazed at just how talented he was and how accomplished his short career was. As a Jeff Gordon fan I feel like Jeff vs Davey is the biggest "what if" of all time. SO many careers would be impacted had Davey lived. No Ernie in the 28 meaning no Jarrett to the 88. Hell Gordon's 2 biggest threats for his last title in 2001 were DJ and Rudd in the 28..... think about that one. Anyway I think Davey would have won 3 or 4 500's and a couple titles easily had he lived. Such a natural at plate racing. Rest Easy Davey, truly one of the good guys who was called home early 🙏🏼❤💛🖤🏁

What I like about this is Shepard scraped the wall and could still compete. Today technology you flat spot a quarter panel you lose 10 mph. Nascar will never be this great again. They're trying to be like formula 1 too much

Davey Allison was such a class act. Although I wasn't a fan, I wasn't a hater. I had lots of respect for him, especially after the Pocono 1989 crash. While his parents were nasty with their statement about DW, Davey knew it wasn't his fault and if anyone was to blame it was Kulwicki. However it was really just a racing accident caused by the dangers of going 3 wide, except on the front stretch.

@badbooking32213 жыл бұрын
@Jimmy Dawg I do not hold the early 90s plate races to the same "standards" of today. That being said, these 1992 cars with almost no downforce on the rear made them incredibly twitchy to run side by side. Fortunately a rule change for 1993 changed most of that issue.
@craigceecee87623 жыл бұрын
This was definitely the most boring Daytona 500 of the 1990s. The Big One pretty much took everyone out who had a chance to compete with them.

@@badbooking3221 How do you know the rule change was in 1993?

@@asherpate8 because the 1993 race did a very good job explaining how much more rear spoiler all the cars were made to run, and especially the more stood up angle.

@@badbooking3221 I see. But it feels like to me how tall or flat the spoiler is is actually the driver's choice on their car or something. It's just me. Btw, what about the other 1992 and 1993 restrictor plate races?

Another one of Irvan's bonehead moves from that era, he basically ruined the race unless you were a fan of Davey Allison cause that wreck gave him an uncontested Sunday drive to the checkers. Earnhardt still had a pretty decent car despite the damage from the wreck, he'd have been there at the end had that not happened.
@pp3k3jamail2 жыл бұрын
Some of you people blind it wasn't just Ernie Irvin with the bone-headed move Bill Elliott too, they didn't need to go three wide right after that restart like that. That's what I hate about most Americans y'all don't blame all parties involved y'all pick out the people y'all like and don't like and just blame the people that y'all don't like. 🤦🏿
@vinewood82952 жыл бұрын
@@pp3k3jamail The hell did Elliott do? Marlin tried to pass on the inside and couldn't completely pull it off drifting slightly up the track into Elliott & opening the door for Irvan to go three wide. The problem was that Irvan instead of staying low went high on the backstretch while attempting the pass, maybe he could not see them still on his outside who knows his spotter is the real culprit cause he should have been telling Ernie to stay low cause he had not yet completely made the pass...
