But still, he di not take responsibility for the safety and well-being of those around him. He purposely ran into the back of the no. 6 going way faster than was safe to do so. Bit late but I can give some context. The track this was on is the smallest in all of nascar, overtaking on this track usually takes 1-2 laps per car. The driver basically had to win get into the qualifiers otherwise there was a good chance this would be his last race. With all that he managed to pass 5 cars on just the turn alone, beat a rival he had been going head to head with for a while that was in 5th place in this race. @tommyyancy39022 жыл бұрын
It ain’t open wheel racing. NASCAR was built on stuff like this. Crazy moonshiners pushing their machines beyond the limits, innovators in the garage pushing the rules to the limit, and at times causing new rules to be implemented because of it, and incredible moments like this. Everyone remembers the time Pearson and Petty wrecked coming to the checkered flag at the Daytona 500. People remember the “Pass in the grass”. We remember Larson sending it at Darlington in this same way, though it didn’t work. Carl Edwards did it too, and it didn’t work. This will be remembered in NASCAR lore forever and that is not a bad thing. It is unique to NASCAR. Could it be dangerous? Yes, if he catches an access gate like Micheal Waltrip, it could kill him. Do I want to see it every week? No. Will they make a rule like the yellow line rule at Daytona and Talladega? Maybe. But, this is in no way bad for the sport. As a matter of fact , it was possibly the only memorable moment of the race. This will be on the every NASCAR commercial you see for Martinsville from her to eternity. Lol.
@areasmith2 жыл бұрын
@@tommyyancy3902 You're right in my opinion. And now that I've had the night to sleep on it, I not only think it was a great move, but I'm not sure if NASCAR possibly creating a rule to ban it is such a good idea. This strategy probably wouldn't work on bigger tracks because everyone is already travelling pretty fast on the straightaways because they're longer. At Martinsville, everyone is already driving slow due to the short track so it works. If someone else should do it down the road and it proves to be ineffectual, destructive to property, etc. then consider not doing it. I think it's a brave, bold move that happens once in a lifetime. I don't imagine other drivers are excited about doing it down the road, so if I'm NASCAR, I let it go.

i've been watchin racing for over 65 years, since i started going to the local dirt track with my dad...that is the absolute most brilliant thing i have ever seen done on a flat track, and the timing was incredible, if he'd waited even another 5 seconds to start that move he would have been too late... if there was ever such a thing as a "junior johnson 'balls to the wall' award" given to a nascar driver , chastain's name'd be engraved on it in big bold typeset.... absolutely awesome.... wow !... and.... i also admit i share the same sentiment i see others on here have expressed..... the fact it took whiney ass hamlin and the entire crybaby gibbs organization out of any shot at the championship when with less than 2 seconds left they were all comfortably feeling they were in......is a massive bonus
