I was a jr fan back in them early days but honestly I don’t disagree, jr won 26 races and about 10-12 of those wins came from only 2 tracks, everywhere else he just was mediocre at best, there’s so many drivers that, at the time he retired, hadn’t been there as long and won more races and performed more consistently, jr has done so much for the sport overall on and off the track but complete honesty he wasn’t a great driver unless he was at a restrictor plate track, even at Hendrick he only managed to win like 12-14 races over the course of 10 years. Harvick, Hamlin, and Larson, and maybe one or 2 more, have each had single seasons at one time or another where they won 8-10 races in a single season, jr never did that

@billyrowland15216 ай бұрын
I'll agree Jr. Would have a way better record for wins, and at least a couple of championships, even if he had left the 8 Bud machine. It was the man he was raised by, that he feared, the man he respected most, the man he wanted to impress most, he needed to know he made the man proud, and anything above that would have been equivalent to Dale Sr. Winning the DAYTONA 500. with Ralph watching him.
@austinbeasley13006 ай бұрын
Id go with Dale just based on the fact that he had to race against multiple legends of the sport, in the 2000s he had to race against a prime Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, and Tony Stewart while still having to race a few old legends with Mark Martin,Ricky Rudd, and Rusty Wallace and was still able to get 19 wins within that period, while setting numerous records that Chase has yet to accomplish, if you look at both of their careers up to this point Dale Jr has a Daytona 500, 4 Straight Talladega wins, 2 back to back Busch titles and 40+ wins across all of Nascar, Chase has less than 25 wins in all of Nascar and 1 Cup/1 Xfinity title. If you take a deep dive into it their bith very similar at this point in their careers with Dale Jr being a bit more successful on the stat column, Chase has been jn top equipment since hia Xfinity days with JRM then with HMS, Dale Jr accomplished his stats before 08' with the equivalent of a TrackHouse car today, DEI wasnt a big powerhouse team, DEI in Busch wasnt either, Dale was taking an average racecar and fighting for wins and championships with teams that had millions more invested into its development, back then the only advantage was RCR engines where more reliable, HMS had engines with better power, cars that were more aerodynamic, better suspensions for handling at intermediates literally everything HMS,RFR, and Gibbs has was indefinitely better than what DEI had. Chase has always had the luxury of having literally the best team with the best engine builders and best aero department with his cars. Dale Jr took a regular car and made it spectacular on track, from my perspective watching both races. Dale was able to do more woth far less. Which is why id pick Dale Jr over Chase.

What wasn't mentioned was the talented drivers Dale Jr competed against compared to Chase Elliott. Dale Sr, Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Jimmy Johnson Busch brothers, Rusty Wallace, Ricky Rudd, Labonte Brothers etc. Who does Chase compete with? The talent today compared to back then isn't even close. That's why Nascar is hurting for fans and sponsorship.

I would also. JR transcended the sport and carried it, his 1yr in 2008 of souvenier sales itself probally beats chase for 5yrs. If Jr had a mentor, say Letarte from the start, we would have different stats

Wrong. Chase is number one in Merchandise sales and that's an increase in sales of 27% year to year, and an 11.7% increase over the past decade. Merchandise sales have been on the rise for decades. Sorry.
