Somehow, I predicted this would happen. Chase Elliott's following in his mentor's footsteps. When they won their respective championships, They had five wins all together in the season. Both of them won two races in the regular season. Both won the round of 12 Charlotte race. Both of them won Martinsville to get to the championship four. Both of them started at the rear of the field at the championship race. And when it mattered the most, both were upfront and won the race and championship. While this is not the greatest NASCAR championship story in history, it is still a true honest-to-god passing of the torch moment, where one champion ends his journey, and another begins to skyrocket on his own.

I watch more dirt than nascar these days but, I just want to say JJ has to be the most underrated nascar champion ever. He's kinda quiet and layed back in appearance. Did his talking on the track and raced clean. Top 5 in his last race. He can truely say " I Did It My Way ". I became a NASCAR and Jimmie Johnson fan in 2016, but I was still so extremely emotional when he retired, even though I only got to see him win 5 of his 83 victories, along with only 1 of his 7 titles, but it was the 7th and most historic one. At the time of the 2020 championship, I was also 14 years old, but the emotion was still there.
