Is there any plan for Eypc 4004 am5 based NAS ? Pcie bifurcation , ecc support, built in IGP and also enough pcie lanes to spend, and probably usb4 by adding additional controller Super upgradable and long supported socket

@@adrianjenkins2447USB4 DAS networking is not available at the moment. We are working hard with AMD to try to get support included. That is why we haven't advertised its support yet. This is an issue with AMD's driver and we can't really control that.

I would *love* to see a passive system, perhaps in the same form factor as a normal consumer network router, with perhaps 6 M.2 drives. Could probably be over SATA, would be fast enough for most home networks anyway. I just want something small, super efficient and completely quiet.

Is there a way to configure that add-on card for the MS-01 into a raid array? And use the other in.2 slots for the OS? I would be very curious to fund out if that would work. I just need a way to combine multiple m.2s to expand the video recording space on my frigate instance. Running on the MS-01

Please fix me if I'm wrong, but based on the documentation online, the new Flashstor does not support the networking over USB4 (yet?). It surprised me a little. Same goes for the Ugreen one. I was sharpening my teeth on the Flashstor2, but to be certain I can utilise my USB4 port on my Z790 Motherboard, I think I have to look the MS-01 route...

I don't see why it should be m.2/nvme and not 2.5". After all, i suspect larger-size 2.5" ssds are cheaper than m.2. Not all applications require that the nas be lightning fast, and in any case, even SATA SSDs are way faster on random access which is what matters most. So an array of SATA SSDs can max out even a faster network connection. M.2 NASes often have lane limitations which kinda make nvme speeds irrelevant. I mean if you had 25/100g networking and all 4 lanes per drive it might be of import. Not necessarily so the way it is now. Also, the hexagon panel right above the seagull's noggin needs alignment
@nascompares
@nascompares Ай бұрын
I see you point (maybe less so, re: north of the seagulls noggin), no it the price of m.2 at Gen3 speed has pretty much matched SATA 2.5G now (it's Gen 4 and Gen 5 that is still pushing the price up) and the majority of m.2 NAS in the market are all Gen3 - and will likely still be so in 12-18months

Sorry you feel that way bud. And I see your points. But notwithstanding that you can't compare the pricing model of a single outlet Vs a multinational conglomerate that has plenty of ways to bend a dime, you also have to factor in that the description of the vids is just the same as public content. It gets included just because the video is duplicates (as the internal scheduling for draft, to private , then to early access, then to members and finally to public is a mess for platforms that publish 3-4 times a week). Sorry to hear your disappointment on this, genuinely, but I hope you enjoy the content nevertheless. Merry Xmas bud

Why do you keep saying that the Flashstor Gen 2 has Thunderbolt support? It most certainly does NOT have Thunderbolt networking or even USB4 networking support via DAS ...even Asustor have finally stopped advertising that it does
@nascompares
@nascompares Ай бұрын
I mean... It worked in my review. It continues to work as we speak. However it is becoming increasingly clear that the support is very hit and miss. From my conversations with Asustor since my review, they seem to be going all out on this to resolve, but currently have stated only Nas to Nas support for this connection. Nonetheless, it worked with my MS-01 i9. I don't know what more to tell ya.... As the video intro also states, this was recorded before the FS Gen2 review was even started... At that point, the brand was being far less restrained on their USB/TB advertising

@ look all I know is I’m not seeing a lot of positivity from people who are trying to use the devices USB4 ports for anything …. In fact you are the only person I have heard having success with DAS via USB4…. If you add the SMB Networking issues with MAC’s and the ADM doc fail to the seemingly ineffective support from ASUSTOR to the equation the question is what exactly are you paying these high prices for ? I’m afraid that as Synology was vulnerable their competitors are too busy kicking own goals to do anything worthwhile ….. bad for the consumer….. good for Terramaster/Ugreen/China …

Normally I would 100% agree...but DiY pure m.2 builds in 4/6/8/12 configurations are actually pretty pricey, once you factor the rest of the build and casing. Most of the solutions in this list or exceedingly compact for the scale. But I do see you point and also DiY builds would blow for better hardware value on the processor too
