I hope you continue this series now that the NAS is more available. I just got mine in, and I'm hoping to learn more about using it effectively.

Im new to Docker. For Part 4 could you do a walkthrough of installing jellyfin and home assistance. also maybe how to update those containers. even for plex. Thanks for the videos.

You mentioned the section “Firewall” would need a separate video in terms of duration. Well, I’m very interested! :)

How doe UGreen handle upgrading a pools capacity? If I want to expand the pool, can I just replace the drives in a RAID array one aat a time till they're all new, larger drives? Is there a more involved process? Is it possible to change the RAID setup, from 5 to 6, if I'm upgrading to larger drives?

Great video as always. BTW, good news, the newly released UGreen UGOS Pro version 1.0.0.1291 adds support for external drives accessibility via File Explorer in Windows 11 and Finder via MacOS. Not sure about HDD (USB and Thunderbolt) pass through for VM’s and Docker but will look into it. Fingers crossed!

Just an FYI. I have a couple 12 gig WD drives I shelled from the external drives the offer on sale sometimes. While they have a hole missing in the middle on each side for drive installation in some cases.... the tool-less cages the Ugreen NASync has is fully compatible. :)

the previous model doesn't allow users to add new hard drives and expand the volume. Only let you setup a new volume using the new drive. I hope this model supports that,😅

Where can you buy one in UK?? Thanks

Why are we using 2.5inch Hard Disk Drives at all when M.2 Nvme is so much smaller & faster? I just saw Ugreen NAS that uses only SSD. I would love to hear your response.

Question, why didn’t you not use silicone pads on the meme ssd drives?

Can btrfs communicate with the underlying RAID layer to repair like Synology (Cause they use Linux RAID + LVM + modified btrfs)? I know that a lot of NAS makers use btrfs with linux raid, they can detect corruption but repairing it can vary. Interested what ugreens approach is for this.

@nascompares if I want to put TrueNas on a new larger boot drive (larger than the 128gb that UGOS is installed on?) Use first NVME SSD for Read Write Cache Second NVME SSD as separate volume for quick transfer of photo and video from camera et And HDD’s in RAID 5 Is this possible?

3:29 I'm on a budget, and I'm saving up for 4 drives that will run on RAID5. So there will be no problem if I want to just start using the NAS with 1 drive for a couple of months and later expand to RAID5? I won't lose any data with the expansion, right?
@steveterlizzi47432 ай бұрын
No heat sinks on the two NVMe SSDs? UGREEN provides two heatsinks in the box with the system.

Very true! I should have added that.

Still no UK availability? I have been holding off on buying a NAS until these became available but I may have to go another route if we don’t hear something soon.

Some people ordered it with delivery forward services. Maybe this is also something to keep in mind.

@makeleletoulalan5604 I’ve gone the DIY route before, I want this for the all in one package.
@djn3942 ай бұрын
@@muckimo88 That is an option I suppose although comes with its own risks.
@djn3942 ай бұрын
@makeleletoulalan5604 the price doesn’t concern me. I’ve been down the DIY route before and would prefer a complete package from a hardware perspective. The ability to install alternate OSs is what draws me to these units in particular.

Is it possible to take an existing RAID5 array and install it into a UGreen NAS without destroying the data, or do you have to set up on different drives and manually copy the files rom the old RAID array?
@jollygoodfellow3957Ай бұрын
You have to rebuilt it from scratch. Put blank HDDs in it, make a raid volume, then migrate data.
