Thanks for covering the S 15, would love to see your take on the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x. Personally, I would love to see how this platform would evolved and trickle down its performance & battery life advantage to the "budget conscious" individuals. Knowing Microsoft has been playing around with ARM chipsets for a long while now, I was expecting the current offerings was cheaper to its x86 counterparts. I was lucky to spot this fully spec X-Elite S15 at our local retailers; the build was solid, keyboard was satisfying, screen was "meh" personally. I wouldn't mind picking it up if** it was released a year ago since I was surveying a replacement. However, it was a abit dissapointing to see the price point reaching up to 1000$ ++ (roughly RM4xxx) while expecting it to be price around 800$-900$ while treating it essentially as a typical SoC with decent i-GPU performance like any other its rivals with integrated graphics. The gripe I had is its price point. I would expect comparable efficiency-performance as much marketing points it out to the M1/M2 from Apple. Snapdragon offerings had better battery life, but even from the high end Intel & AMD chipsets (in the same price point) have comparable margins to battery in everyday workload. At the same time, it doesn't help the fact that the recent release AMD Ryzen Ai & Intel Core Ultra (as much ridiculous Ai naming schemes are) offers similar peformance & battery life. With "Recalled" being recalled, it had lost its marketing and offering with Ai shenanigans. The least I was really excited to see a public release of Real-time video translation and the upcoming Microsoft AI SR (Microsoft take's on upscaling 3D apps/games). Now, we're just left with efficienct ARM chipset that can't do much with integrated NPU. On ARM-to-x86 translation for app compability, it would be a long while to get more popular apps on board for productivity. It kind of hurts seeing it wouldn't work much with open source/free-alternatice productivity apps seeing its moslty x86 focused.

Thank you for your presentation on ARM have been watching development arm base software support. To be honest i been waiting for this since Microsoft early developments on SQ3 chips, but i never buy while waiting for Snapdragon fully released on to the market. Now the show start been looking all over KZbinrs review do share the same feelings, I am keen on buying the X-Elite also another concern weather some X86 software able to work nicely with hardware. It is abit scary like hit or miss , my main concern is some security software won't work peacefully with this Snapdragon. Anyway thanks nice video does help me to think wisely weather worthy buying this laptop...thank you 😊

A comprehensive comparison of the S5507 and S5606 models. Could you do detailed test between them?

i think AAA games originally on mobiles as well would be the first to be cross compatible with windows on arm. On a macbook pro apple silicon i got Honkai Star Rail to work correctly, then genshin Impact, and then Wuthering waves. They had probably terrible performance, but the fact that it even ran was the step in the right direction.
@NasiLemakTech
@NasiLemakTech 3 ай бұрын
What methods did you get those games to work on Apple Silicon? If it's through Parallels, then it's also emulating x86. Thing is, Mac's Rosetta2 is very robust compared to Windows's Prism translation layer.

@@NasiLemakTech its parallels. However, still not every game is working correctly - anti cheat will nuke the chance to function.

Ah okay. Sidenote - do you think that with the recent controversy about CrowdStrike and kernel-based protections, will kernel anti-cheat be removed in the future? That'll improve compatibility even further.

@@NasiLemakTech Mr. NL, I'm not too knowledgeable about this situation, so take my word with a grain of salt. However, if it were to happen, it would be significant to development of games. Id rather take more game storage for the anti cheat function rather than implore something like the kernel. I would love this to become real.

This one or Samsung (costingn$105 more). This has oled screen and Samsung non oled and less resolution as well. Is Samsung worth the extra cost? Same processor, ram, ssd etc.

Apple always had the Arm chips way above Android. I can imagine Windows grinding on this. Catching on fire actually. I would rather have Linux on it, personally.

Can I know this arm base laptop snapdragon is good for graphic desiging such as can run adobe software like adobe premiere pro ?

The answer is NO Adobe promised a Windows Arm version of Premiere Pro and it is still not here yet. Many other graphic apps are not ported to Windows on Arm either

Some games fail due to anti-cheat protection, and I’m uncertain if this issue can be resolved swiftly. Qualcomm’s PR team assures us that they will address it, but they must say that. Regarding Recall, it was temporarily suspended due to significant privacy and security concerns. The UK, EU, and likely the DOJ are all concerned about the potential consequences, prompting Microsoft to reconsider their data protection measures. Furthermore, the notion that SSDs degrade over time is outdated. SSDs have a lifespan far exceeding many components, especially in ultrabooks where writing activity is minimal. While pro machines experience more wear and tear, users can mitigate this by purchasing larger storage modules.

1. Okay, yet to see any improvement now. 2. Yeah, great feature to have though 3. I'm sure you've not edited photos and videos on it before. Using it as scratch disks is necessary for speed and that will increase write cycles significantly. And I can't even upgrade to a larger SSD? And I need to carry an external SSD? Why?

Too bad you couldn't compare Davinci Resolve's x86 to ARM times. I have the Vivobook s15 too, and bought it specifically so that I can use Davinci. Would like to know how much improvement I get with the before and after in Davinci. I am curious though. I have Davinci installed in an x86 machine too, and it has a nice GPU. I was told when I built that machine that a better GPU would improve render times in Davinci. What I want to know is how Snapdragon handles GPU chores versus how x86 machines do it. I heard that the GPU is now integrated into the Snapdragon chip and isn't a separate subsystem. Is that true?
@NasiLemakTech
@NasiLemakTech 2 ай бұрын
That last part is true. Snapdragon chips are designed like a smartphone chip, so the GPU is in that same packaged chip. Apple's M-series chip is made the same way. I might revisit this since DaVinci got an upgrade to v19 with native Arm support.

@@NasiLemakTech Thank you for the fast response. I thought your review was comparing DR version 19. That is a major release and as you said, DOES support Snapdragon ARM. Would like to see a comparison, since DR is one of the few companies who are on the ARM bandwagon now. I think they see the handwriting on the wall and see that (IMHO) x86 is on it's way out. Apple knows this too so it's only a matter of time before ARM dominates everything.

TBH for Macs, yes x86 is considered dead. They just force everyone to go Arm or be obsolete. For Windows... I think it's going to be a long time before a dent is made on the x86 architecture. It's difficult to make devs maintain two branches. So far, Premiere Pro isn't available in Arm either, only Photoshop is.

I am interested in the fact that there will be ever be a case of the X elite in an Android tablet. That's because after apple moved their tablets to the M series of chips, there is no way that android tablets are competing with them in performance as Qualcomm uses the same chips it provides in mobile phones in tablets as well which can't even beat apple's A series chips let alone compete with the M series.

Apple achieved remarkable success, as they did four years ago from a standing start. Windows on ARM (WOA), which has been around for over a decade, theoretically should outperform macOS. However, it falls far short of expectations. Consequently, it becomes challenging to defend WOA, and we should cease making excuses and urge Microsoft and developers to improve their offerings. Unfortunately, the nature of Windows, with a substantial number of legacy applications, limits the availability of ARM-compiled applications. This explains why WOA has experienced significant software stagnation over the past ten years.

No need for gimmicks when x86 laptops already are better than Apples. The true strength of x86 is in the software stack so why give it up?
