I've owned a 5ml decant for about 3 years and have horded the crap out of it. I quite enjoy both this and black afgano, but this being in Canada, it's so great for the wintertime here. I get a good amount of florals that I quite enjoy that help balance it out a bit. It's def on my to buy list, and I don't buy full bottles very often.

Great review, Peter. I love this one, too. I struggle to smell the chocolate in it, though. To me, this scent is oud, patchouli and a slight touch of white florals. I know I'm in the minority on the 'no-chocolate' front, though.

Perfect background music! And what a lovely rooom you have! The sofa is stunning! You room is like the Pardon of rooms. Did you use a filter or do you have that warm ambiance in there? I'm struggling with Pardon; it's a scent that I want to LOVE - the supposed notes are lovely - but cannot do so yet. It has a tendency to amplify the "sour milk" note on my skin. And only once out of 4 tries (different bottles) have I been happy with the result. Also, the scent being mysterious; I've found that it seems to stay close to skin and then after 6-7 hours starts to project (I start getting whiffs for the first time of the duration). Have you noticed this? Great review, Thanks

No filter... just one directional light, but it's an orange light rather than white light... I do know kind of what you mean with the projection.. sometimes it's heavy and then goes away, and then comes back later... I think maybe your nose gets blind to it because it's strong, then seems to relieve it's self and come back later maybe.. I am not sure!

I don't live anywhere near any of the centers of fine fragrance, so sometimes I do the old blind-buy after research the heck out of a fragrance soliciting input from trusted friends and other sources. Pardon, Black Afgano and Absinth have held my interest from this house for the past 2-3 years but I always ended pursing fragrances such as Creed, Tom Ford Private Blend, Montale/Mancera, Dior La Collection, Amouage, etc. Anyway, I'm gonna do my be check-out this house this Summer...only because Charlotte said so. :) Enjoyed the re-review.

+wise Hope I think you worded that badly... one persons Gold is another persons Trash.. it should have read " there are a lot of fragrances I could enjoy more " rather than you... I've tried so many Niche, that people hype and love, that smell bland and nothing special... I think everyone just has different taste, and a different way of there nose developing though personal experience. Surprised you think Blame is feminine though, it's Nuclear.. it would blow most women's heads off lol

it's very sharp, I don't think many women would like it personally.. just because of the potency of it.. It's actually not sandalwood.. It's a synthetic called Norlimbanol which is created by the company Firmenich... the same note is used as the main accord in his Viridie in his 2nd house Orto Parisi, if you smell the dry down of Blamage and the mid of Viridie you will recognise the note

+epopseudo Who ever thinks this smells of LIDGE needs a new nose... LIDGE is pretty disgusting to me, it's one I had to scrub off.. it's got a pretty strong Patchouli that dominates the smell and that bitter Star Anise note, and to top it off there's a tiny bit of Neroli in it too, and that's one of the notes that makes me feel sick.. It's really nothing a like to me, LIDGE just has a dirty smell to it, and is very jarring and polarising.

+FragranceView Good to get your thoughts, Peter, thanks! Yeah, I have only briefly smelled LIDGE and I can totally understand why you might have had that reaction. The Fragrance Bros said it was so dry that it made them want to drink water, and I also thought it had a desiccating effect. Anyway Pardon is one of a couple of the Nasomatto line I'd love to check out (the other being Absinthe).

Nice review. I might pull the trigger on this after listening to you but I just bought ile pourpre imaginaires! If the box had a paper inside it's newer formulation. Also the newer one has couple more ingredients. Someone did a side by side comparison on basenotes.

From what I can see on Fragrantica, it has top notes of magnolia and flowers, middle notes of dark chocolate, tonka bean and cinnamon, and base notes of agarwood (oud) and sandalwood🙂

Nasomatto is more for people with an acquired taste. They make unusual scents and it needs to suit you. I have a sample and I get mixed reactions with Pardon. I have colleagues from the middle east and they adore it but many women call it weird. In my opinion it's Nasomatto's best fragrance.

At first, it was too potent oud for me, but after 15mins, It became dark and sexy, oud is still noticeable, Im not sure there is a dark chocolate, but it has a dark sweetness, and also can smell the cinnamon and sandalwood. Is very unusual, great for special occasion. I think im going to love this more and more.

You should try out Rasasi's Faqat Lil Rijal. It's a dark creamy fresh oud blend. The way you described this scent is how I describe Faqat to people.

+Anayelperfume R It's not uni sex I don't think.. it's is a lot more masculine for sure in the way it feels, just from the strength alone, but.. It's not overly macho masculine, so I wouldn't say it's man all over..  Once you're in the mid it becomes more rounded and less of a punch.. I don't think you have to be a hugely confident manly man to wear it, I am just easy going and chill, I think it fits different personalities well.. it still manages to suit me.

Hi Peter...... in the category of masculine fragrances, what would be your choice of a woman's fragrance ? Meaning formal event, classy, opulent etc. Also what are your views about Bond no. 9 fragrances?

I don't like Bond No.9 but I only smelled maybe 10 of them, but there wasn't anything that struck me.. Formal, classy, opulent women's perfume immediately I think of House of Matriarch - World of Blue It's built around real Orris and Heliotrope with blue lotus flower, it's so luxurious and elegant... very sexy too in my opinion on a woman, but in a classy way - and I am not a fan of Orris / Iris perfumes in general, I don't like any others.. world of blue is actually the only one I really like a lot..

This gave me a more expensive, even more dry, darker version of Terre De Heremes Parfum with added Oud and something more. But it's in the same style, both are very dry and elegant smelling. Maybe its just me?

I just receive a sample of pardon but was not what i excpected, to me at first sniff it smells like Kerosene or Gasoline.............. but since there are so many people talking so many great things about this fragrance that I ll actually give a try and see how it develops during a whole day.

+GoldV83 Personally.. I wouldn't, it means breaking the seal on the bottle. Unless you plan to decant it into another bottle? I don't think it would increase strength.. and the one I have is strong enough anyway with just two sprays

I can think of a few... Tom Ford Tuscan Leather, Nasomatto Pardon, Parfums De Marly Habdan, House of Matriarch Black No.1, tends to be something a bit heavier and thicker and warmer.
