@grimsbyarcher the 0 on the square is the bottom of the arrow. 3/8" above the 0 is roughly the top of the arrow...so the nock point is at the top of the arrows nock. Then the arrow is nocked below the nock point. I have done all 10 of my bows this way and they all shoot straight off the shelf. When I shot with fingers with my hunting bows (recurve and compound) I did this as well and it paper tuned bullet holes.

It doesn't have anything to do with speed, but it does have to do with safety. By removing the brass nock locators it will prevent the possibility of it coming off and injuring someone. So a string nock locator was added for safety not speed.

@dodgyplonk Yes. I have placed the arrow on the string and have used anything that has a 90 degree angle to square it. You could use a small framing square, framers speed square (I have used this many times), DVD case if nothing else...as long as it is a 90 degree angle it will work.

Very good. Could you do a beiter nocking point serving vid. Can't seem to find anything on this.

@RisingSunOutdoors Surely you place the arrow ABOVE the nocking point? You measured off 3/8" above square, then worked down the bowstring, so the bottom of your nocking point is now almost on the square (zero) point. If you place the arrow below the nocking point, it'd be below square

I measure from the initial knot and tie up the serving. The arrow is placed under the nock point which is 3/8 inch above the zero mark.. One can hold the arrow in place with pressure of the drawing fingers.

I used to do that then instead of melting I would trim in tight and then put a drop of fletching glue on opposing sides. Once it hardens you can work the knock point up and down like a nut on a bolt to fine tune.

is there anyway to find the nock point with out using a bow square?

Do you fit the arrow above or below?

The 3/8ths mark should be the bottom of the arrow nock, not the start of the knock point! This knock point is too low!

i don't understand why brass nocks are not allowed. I mean, seriously. . . how much heavier is brass nock? It is not that much heavier. You cannot possibly be losing enough fps to worry about the wt of the brass nock. I don't understand why it is not allowed in NSAPS. It does not slow things down! Everyone is so crazed with arrow speed. It is getting absurd. Why don't you guys just not worry about speed and allow for brass nocks.
@knothead52 жыл бұрын
If the brass nock locator isn't installed properly, it will come off. That isn't a good thing if you are close to the bow. With NASP, IMO, arrow speed at 10 and 15 meters is irrelevant. Shooting longer distances as in 3D, it might be a slight advantage.
