I watched this video before our last cruise, and we followed your footsteps to the Queen's Staircase and Fort Fincastle. 👍 It was hot, we were ready to go back to the ship. Lots of straw market vendors around, so we asked about a taxi just for 2 (most of the taxis waiting there were minivans for larger parties). The lady said, I can take you in my car. We agreed on $20; it was great! She zipped us back to Bay Street. Stopped at a traffic light, she saw a lady on the sidewalk; she rolled down the window and yelled "Bertha!" Bertha looked up, and our driver shot her the bird! and they both laughed. Miss Driver said, "We went to High School together" She dropped us at the port entry, and we paid her $30. 😀

@@TheWeekendCruiser Brandon!! Did the Nassau tour today and it was fabulous! Fincastle was closed so no good shot with Freedom, but the walk around was great. Clemot at the Staicase was a gem. Graycliff isn't letting anyone back to the koi pond, but the Porter took us back for a quick tour. Cigar and chocolate amazing. Watlings Pina Colada ON POINT and the flight knocked me OUT. I added Tasty Teas, half a block down and loved it. The family there are a real gem and their tea definitely fixed me up after Watlings. Fish fry, Junkanoo a couple shops and back on the boat, completely happy and sunned!! Thank you so much for this video. Greycliff has/had a wonderful “Make Your Own Chocolate” tour a few years back - not sure if COVID has suspended that. Thanks for the tour. I had been to some of the places on a tour! I’d also wandered and wondered what some of the buildings were. As for the sidewalks, most seem to be the result after an earthquake! I did manage to make a couple of loops on a rented mobility scooter, but you definitely need to be agile enough to drive with one foot out to the side to keep from turning over even a four wheel scooter😇 I only remember a couple of places where I thought it better to walk the scooter, mostly because of curbs with holes all around. Again, thanks for the tour.
@TheWeekendCruiser3 жыл бұрын
My pleasure! You would think they had an earthquake but I think it is just time. Glad you faired as well as you could on the scooter! Know that was challenging!
@Reed-2big3 жыл бұрын
@@TheWeekendCruiser I’m pretty sure there was no earthquake either! My scooter was on the smallish side so it wasn’t too bad. I mentioned it because I can never get people to tell me what cobblestone looks like in various ports. Some is easier than others, I resorted to asking whether on could safely ride a bicycle down the streets and for Nassau that would be a definite NO for the sidewalks! Nevertheless, with a few glitches we managed with the scooter. Loving your info. We are headed out at the end of the week to a new port Puerto Playa. Hopefully some of the tours will not involve steep hills!

I LOVE Nassau and when I hear some hates it, I say, “you don’t know Nassau “. With this clip I have learned other things to see yet you didn’t mention the historical society museum (open 10am on).. the greycliff museum goes back to the year 1700 not 1948 (year I was born ie not old) … cigar makers are Cuban born indentured servants … btw the National Art gallery can have VERY sexual nudity/art (such as a graphic painting, up close to someone kneeling “onto private parts”. Etc

That is excellent to hear! Yes, it is by no means an all-encompassing list as there is much more to do but couldn't fit it all in one day! Hopefully, this will at least peak people's interest and get them off the ship! As for the art gallery, I chose the term "progressive" but they can have some very provocative pieces for such a conservative nation.
