After months of testing the pilot of this 6 bus order of battery electric New Flyer XE40 NG CHARGE's, buses 2081 to 2085 were finally brought into service, with all units including 2080 now in revenue service all across Nassau County in Long Island as the first non-CNG powered buses operating under NICE. These buses entered service between April and May of this year, quickly operating on every route under NICE, bringing features such as USB and USB-C ports under and next to the seats, an LCD infotainment screen, which slides through various tips, PSA's and messages for passengers, and of course zero emissions from the bus itself, due to it being fully battery-electric powered. These buses also feature a unique two-tone scheme all across the body of the bus: a solid bright orange front end with a black trim going across the front to match with the windows, and a rich blue back end with the logo of "NICE" patterned all over it, both separated by a white lightning bolt. 2081 in particular entered service in early April along with a couple of other units, with this being one of if not the first run it has ever done on the n20X route, which goes express to Roslyn. In this case, however, the operator had been nice enough to drop off while the bus was still in Queens, for a needed transfer. #nicebus
