After reading her book and hearing about the shoulder problem (from overuse thru the yrs) needing surgery I'm more impressed that she was able to accomplish what she did. I'm glad she tried so she wouldn't have a seed of doubt that she could have helped the team. They didn't need help in the end though!

Class, grace and beauty throughout. And always more fight than you'd think by looking at her. God Bless that crowd in San Jose for sending her off with the respect and appreciation that she has earned over a legendary career, it obviously meant the world to her. She is one of the all time greats and my personal all time favorite. NYU will be lucky to have her.

I have a lot of respect for Nastia, but her comeback was very confusing. It was fantastic to see her compete at this level again...but she must have known that if she wanted to contribute to the team, she needed to start training sooner than she did. Experience would be amazing to have on the team, but we needed her training and building on her 2008 skills- she would have been an incredible asset. But, Nastia and Shawn are both really young and did great in 2008, so I understand their post-2008.

I think that Nastia is a true role model/inspiration to anyone. She deserves a ton of respect for all that she has accomplished. Many people have said that she is a great person and did you see her comforting girls she was competing against during the trials? It takes a strong person to do that and to get up and finish her routine with her head held high. I do not know her personally, but either way I see no reason to say anything like that to anyone.

Im so sad shes ending her career. It wasnt such a long journey for her. 2016 she will have a chance to prove something and make it into the olympics. She doesnt have to stop because shes not going to London. It takes a courageous person to get up and finish that routing after hurting her neck. Please.. Nastia, Dont leave us!!! :'(

Crazy competition when 18 years old is the peak/prime of your career. Results in a lot of pressure on some very young kids. Seems to have helped shape a wonderful young woman, though. A fighter indeed, I'm sure she'll be successful in whatever she pursues in the future!

I think a lot of people on KZbin and other media outlets have been very rude and unfair to Nastia in her attempted comeback to the sport, and have forgotten that she was the darling of the 2008 Olympic Games! Her goal was to fill a void on the U.S. team for UB -- which unfortunately, didn't work out for her. Regardless of her short prep time, most people don't realize what it takes for gymnasts to give it their all. Love you, Nastia! You will forever be the Queen in my heart!!

Feel bad for her but she had a great career. Its difficult for girls over 20 to even compete with younger teens. And she's turning 23 so her chances of winning a medal were really far fetched. With that said, i think the new girl Jordon will excel. Go USA
