@deeremeyer17493 жыл бұрын
Like an FE in a '67 is really going to get "out of shape" no matter what "suspension" it has under it. You have a better chance of getting "squirrely" power-shifting a stock Pinto than getting a lead-sled Ford-Edsel boat-anchored Mustang even "loose" on that much tire and enough track "prep" to "hook" on spacesaver spares.
@deeremeyer17493 жыл бұрын
@@GODZILLATORINORACING "For the times"? Ain't a lot changed up front yet and nothing out back on any leaf-sprung "late model" Mustang. If they're so "good" WTF do you need that much tire for? And why do Stangbangers find it so hard to keep even gutless mod-motor "SN95s" from swapping ends "on the street". You can always tell good engineering by how much it gets "borrowed". Show me another front-engine RWD American "Brand X" 2-DOOR SEDAN THAT "BORROWED" ANYTHING FROM THOSE "UNIBODY" SHITPILES.

The 427 already has a short 3.78 stroke, why destroke it? Mid to High 9s is what, 145-150mph at the end? With 5.14 gears, are you running an overdrive transmission or are you revving it to 9700+ rpm?

I know in '67 you could order the 427FE R-Code option & would still be street legal. However in '68 & '69, Ford was touting the 428FE(RV Motorhome engine as far as I'm concerned) as the hottest for the street. For those model years, could you still special order the 427FE R-Code even though Ford wouldn't give it a VIN# allowing it on public roads? This would be for the Mustang & Torino models. Thanks...

Well I've read where the 428 Cobra Jet did not have all the Ford steel parts necessary for brutal drag racing like the FE-427 did. I'm going to simply say it the 428 was a cheaper version but I'm not completely 100% factual on this. I would appreciate anybody's input here.

@@carmiethompson2676 Okay Carmie, I'll do the work for you, you must be a lazy liberal. There are major differences between the legendary FE-427 and the 428 Cobra Jet. Stroke, bore, block, rods, main webs, caps, cross bolted four bolt main bearings. Oil galleries and routing. This is the engine that was used in Long endurance racing like LeMans, NASCAR, and also drag racing. It was the most versatile engine of the '60s. Now the 428 Cobra Jet is no slouch, it just didn't have all the different variations of the legendary 427 that made it an actual legend in auto racing. The 428 Cobra Jet was an excellent Street engine, as was the FE-427 The FE-427 with all the goodies from the factory pulling about 425 HP was more expensive than the 428 CJ. It all came down to cost. The same is true with the 351 Windsor compared to the 351 Cleveland. The 351 Cleveland was much more expensive to build than the Windsor. I've owned both but I now currently own a 1970 Mach 1 with a 351 4vm code Cleveland engine. The M stands for high performance heads right from the factory. The 4V stands for four barrel carburetor. Recently I rebuilt my 351 Cleveland, and now it has a high performance cam in it and it's even faster than it was when it was all stock which was pretty quick.
