I appreciate the craft and mental strategy involved in PDR. I need to find a specialist in this for my Miata fender. I got a $4,300+ estimate from a body shop that essentially involved them replacing the whole panel and stuff I didn’t ask for. I could do that myself, but I want to fix the original metal.

Liked, commented (no surprise there) and subbed. Took the wife's GTI off-roading and found that trees aren't as forgiving as you might think. This vid was a great excuse to spend more on tools than a new fender. Thnaks![SIC]. Gonna check out your w/s too. This looks like a good time.

Jim, you are the man. Real World PDR is worth every penny, twice over. Coming from the body shop world, I really like the methods you teach and it’s explained in a way that actually makes sense. FAVORITE VIDEO: is the pep talk in regards to handling and dealing with failures. You rock man! Going to be reaching out for some advanced training soon. Freaking out results: doesn’t help.... and make sure when you throw that tool it can’t bounce and cause a dent in your own truck.

I love looking at these videos because it really stepped up my repair game at the body shop. I can usually get my panels looking like yours did at 9:10. Then I go ahead and sand the panel and use filler to finish the job. Honestly it takes all of the guess work out of repairs and the final product looks excellent 👌

I have that exact same dent in the same spot that’s been there for about a month. I’ve been trying to find ways to fix it without having to pay someone to do it (currently have money issues). I’ve tried boiling water and a plunger, tried taking the bottom screws out and pushing it out with a hand, but without any luck. So I’m hoping at least the blowtorch and coal glue will help without ripping off the loose bumper I had to glue back together. Either that or my mom finds someone to pay for it

Way to go Jim!! That was mangled but it’s coming along great! If I’m repairing nasty stuff like that so close to the headlight il remove the light and Tesa tape the panel edge (where it meets the light) and it stops it kinking or blowing..... tape it to the front panel and you also get more access. I know you totally know what your doing. It’s just a tip for people watching/reading the comments Respect the crowns! Martin

I have to attempt this later today in my driveway after "somebody" clipped a deer on her way to work this morning. I have pretty much none of these tools so it should be interesting trying to do this with suction cup pullers, blocks of wood, and tree branches. I'll reply within the week with the results if it works, or if it winds up being as stupid as it sounds. I figure it's worth a try since it's only stupid till it works.

I usually draw the line somewhere as to how long doing such a PDR repair is justifiable before finishing off as a traditional panel / paint job. Lucky I can do both processes I guess, and on nasty paint damaged repairs, PDR makes the panel / paint stage much smaller / easier.
