My Dad's favorite! He was a WW II Merchant Marine, supplying Navy & Marine units. He loved roses...and the lyrics are in here--"Behind The Garden Wall". This still makes me cry, and love him even more. RD Rumpff, Celina, OH.

If ever there was perfection this is it. Nat King Cole was beyond gifted. Thank you for transcribing the words for us.

Arguably, the best song ever written .. the melody & the lyrics are just magical .. then sung by, IMO, the BEST male singer of the era. It just doesn't get any better than this!

Just WOW!!! Nat King Cole nailed this song (and here, his smiling all the way where he knew he's nailing this song!) to its rightful place in an unseen eternal stream of Stardusts forever and ever, now --- long ago, here, there, everywhere of the universe!!! 😊😍🤩

One of the greatest songs ever composed. And the voice of N.K.C. is unforgettable...it cannot get any better than this. When I hear this melody I always remember the great Woody Allen & Charlotte Rampling film "STARDUST"....in my opinion WOODY's best film ever.

Those were the days when songbirds entertained whitebirds. One of the most beautiful vocals ever. Most aptly suited to sing this song.

I watched a documentary about this good, clean living and kind man that could never be fully accepted as a proper American, when I was young. When it showed the footage of his funeral, they played this track. Still has me beside myself to this day x

I love his voice, his songs, and "stardust" is one of the best. My youth I passed in urss, it was not good seen to like such kind of music But, there was But. We did it, listened to this beautiful music and were happy. Svetlana.

I have to say this is so beautiful. Nat at his best. But my favorite recording is Billy Ward and His Dominoes featuring Eugene Mumford 1957. What a voice!

Hoagy Carmichael compose this song in 1927, almost forgot about it and then revived it as an instrumental, then a few years later Mitchell Parish put the lyrics to it. a very difficult song to sing, however if it is done by a talented singer, it is a beautiful song, a very interesting haunting melody as well about lost love.
