...TRIVIA TIME!!! ...Natalie did this Bruce Springsteen cover as a record producer contractual 'favor', when she dropped a Song from the "Everlasting" LP ('I Wanna Be That Woman'); She did it to make room for "I Live For Your Love", which was just turned down by WHITNEY HOUSTON, for her "Whitney" LP... (CONT.) ...Natalie 'owed' the Producer a Song, and "Pink Cadillac", it WAS...Natalie was MORTIFIED when it was chosen as a Single, because she HATED 'Disco tunes'....but, Thanks to the Single & Club mixes from Robert Clivilles & David Cole (C+C Music Factory), she became one of the FIRST artists to approach 'House Music' in 1988!! ...Natalie had 'Club' on her MIND!! ...ha-HAAA!! (#5 Pop, #1 Dance, #4 R&B)

@RBS_: I don't think Natalie Cole hated club/disco songs...I just think she preferred to go down the Jazz/Smooth Jazz route, as she did later against even her then label, specially due to emerging New Jack Swing/Hip Hop. In fact she has some of the best upbeat R&B/Soul/Funk ever in her back catalog. And this track here (the radio edit) is just an example. Surprisingly against all odds, this was also the song that made her a superstar and a household name all over the world because it was really massive at the time. It was literally everywhere and MTV was playing the vídeo non stop.

I remember EXACTLY where I was standing (or dancing...at BADLAND'S IN DC) when I heard the first piano keys of the C+C REMIX of Pink Cadillac and I almost lost my mind when I heard Natalie's voice come in and tear that thing to the ground! THAT DJ LOOPED THAT REMIX about 5 times, for almost 30 minutes and WE CARRIED ON!!!!

I love them both but I love this video because there is just something orgasmic about a 1959 Eldorado.

Natalie covered and rocked the song as it was written!!! Aretha always had a different interpretation and style; they both left us with wonderful music.

Natalie was an excellent cover, Aretha's was not a cover. Natalie sang it LIVE !!!!Both deliver a very different excitement. ❤
