Comparisons are unnecessary. Nobody sings as Buckley as nobody sings as Maines. Its a lovely tribute and rendition, and she's enough of an artist to realize she can't match such an iconic delivery as Jeff, but it doesn't matter. Buckley loved and emulated Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, but would never have claimed to match him. Yet, his honoring him is a beautiful thing that we all can enjoy. Enjoy this, its a beautiful thing.

Natalie's version of "Lover You Should've Come Over" actually brought me and my ex fiancé back together. We've made such sweet love this past week while this song played in the background. Now every time I hear it, I get a chubby. Thanks Natalie. :)

NM sings in key and her own nice way but sweet god, no one could with no exceptions could bring forth the emotion and every last drop of loviliness that Jeff Buckley could.
@MichaelJW725 жыл бұрын
Jeff Buckley songs are really difficult to cover well. His vocalizing was so unique that if someone tries to follow it, it’s not going to sound good. She did a good job with this one

I will forever and always be a Dixie Chicks fan, but I will always be in love with Natalie Maines for speaking her mind. President Bush was a douche. Who knew? God bless you Maines!!!! Love this song!

It's a good version. But she has sung the wrong words in the first verse. I feel like screwing up the words to a song is just not doing your homework. Kinda like screwing up the words to a national anthem. But Natalie mains is awesome

no she didnt, she was singing from a female perspective

I don't think anyone will get this song and sing it right - except Jeff. Most vocalists just use it to flex their vocal acrobatics, and that's not what it's about. It's a nice cover, but I don't understand why she raised they Key up that high, only to strain on some parts? The original key is perfect for a female singer.
@runninglyrics8 жыл бұрын
GreatestCommentsEver I feel like that happens a lot with all music, not just Jeff Buckley's music. On the rare occasion I've attempted what was an emotionally moving song (to me), I had to wait a while before I preformed it so I wouldn't break down on stage while keeping the sincerity and integrity of the piece. Music isn't about making noise, it's about communicating emotion. *and que a trillion people doing nothing but vocal runs for an entire performance. :|*

Ok call me a Buckley fan boy... And i AM a Natalie fan ...its a bold choice, she didn't murder the song... But... for me, This just doesn't hit that aching want in your soul that the song is about... Its nice but I don't feel the "damage was done" Ok my 3 cents
@ComplexMissy11 жыл бұрын
She raised it so she could reach the low notes... any lower and she wouldn't have been able to make them.
@TokoBali211 жыл бұрын
I do feel it, actually. This doesn't equal the original, but she makes it happen. But maybe my positive perspective comes from just hearing Jamie Cullum's version. Anything sounds good after the piece of crap that he made out of it.

Who's this hobbit butchering the great Jeff Buckley? I will give her credit for having the balls to cover Buckley...but her voice is nowhere near what it needs to be to attempt Buckley.
