This is not a trolling comment, and I mean no disrespect. She’s a great actress. But there are so many factual inaccuracies here plus ignorance of biology. Good to hear this side to the “argument” but too much identity politics and collectivism. Its not about children. Its not about families. Its about how vindictive women can be. Women are threatened by other women and can be more dangerous to the promotion of other women. Im in no way saying men aren't also culprits. In my case i was forced out of my job by women, not men. I worked harder and was more dedicated, yet was still forced out. This is the issue. I’m all for making safer work spaces for people, I genuinely think that’s what feminine values will bring to the world. I also love the idea that women are occupying areas that require more emotional consideration and care. But you haven’t really said anything that even indicates there is a patriarchy. “Gynaecology is now a female dominated field”… yeah, good! So more women are interested in health. Makes A LOT of sense?! I’m studying in a field usually dominated by women (psychology, community Development and Communications) and I work in an office predominantly made up of women (a RedCross communications office). I frequently get “discriminated” for not being compassionate enough, but it’s fair game because the job requires you be sympathetic, which is my cross to carry. But maybe there aren’t as many women in leadership positions in other fields because THEY DON’T WANT TO BE THERE AND ITS FUCKING HARD BECAUSE IT REQUIRES A BRUTAL TEMPERAMENT THEY DON’T HAVE. Like being a lawyer, in some cases that requires you to argue for hours over autstically specific details against people who HATE you and will do anything to win. I don’t even want to do that, I don’t know too many people who would either. What if two people were up for a raise worked 80 hours a week vs one who worked 55. Regardless of if it was a male or female, you’d choose the former. The one who worked 55 may be a male who looks after his kid and the 80 an ambitious woman with no other responsibilities. You’d still pick the woman everytime, because you wouldn’t want the male having to leave because his kid has tonsillitis during a super intense working period where the leadership needs to be there. That’s discrimination… but that’s GOOD. Like discriminating if a police officer is fit for the job, you don’t petition to make the workplace safer and more inclusive BECAUSE THE WORK PLACE IS NOT SAFE, THAT’S THE JOB. So sick of this stupid fkn division, why is it so hard to accept that men and women (in most cases, not all) have different values. Instead, why can’t we just learn from each other and use our vastly different skills and perspectives to make things better holistically?
@user-je7db7bi7i
@user-je7db7bi7i 9 ай бұрын
She literally just proved to you why leadership positions is hard for women is a fkn lie. And gynecology is his dominated by women isn't a proof of patriarchy? Bc it was once dominated by men with the same kinds of excuses, and before that, not just dominated by men but 💯 occupied by men under the guise of womsn are too stupid to even go to school. That turned out to be a collosal lie and do is this. So we can assume you men are only capable of lying and especially since you are saying literally the same fkn lies without seeing the irony, that everything you say is a fkn lie.

Man and women are interested in different things, she said it herself that hair, makeup and wardrobe departments are like entirely female. There are always exceptions but generally, male get male jobs (competitive, physical, boring, etc) like firemen, engineers, programmers, and female get female jobs (caring for others, social, etc) like nurses, nutritionist, teachers. So to be in power requires harsh struggle to the top, sacrificing everything (even relationship at times) to reach, and many women are smart enough to avoid that. Man however are usually graded on their achievement and being on top of the hierarchy generally means he is a better man than others, and women obviously wants a competent, confident and successful man as their husband. I mean do women want to marry a man who is a CEO or a man living in his mom's basement... Meanwhile, woman at the top of the hierarchy doesn't necessarily attract men the same way women are attracted to successful man, hence why we see less women on top of the pyramid than men.
@technatezin
@technatezin 5 жыл бұрын
You're also fighting against thousands of years of evolution where men's brains evolved to be technical engineering types. Why? Because when you're faced with either some wild animal trying to kill you or you need to kill the animal for food it was up to you to think of ways to make basic tools like spears, nets and traps to kill them before they killed you and often if your traps and weapons don't work you don't make it to pass on your genes because you're probably killed and eaten by the wild animal at that point. Primitive weapons and traps weren't like the modern weapons of today and required manual physical strength and aggression to operate effectively, so that means the weapon you thought up first in your mind and later crafted by yourself making it your own personal weapon fails in the hunt with the wild animal you're trying to kill or in a fight against another human being, you died along with your unsuccessful genes. In that Darwinian battle who do you think would have the greatest advantage men or women? Women getting killed with poorly designed traps and weapons means the end of the tribe. Technically incompetent men getting killed with poorly designed weapons means the men that were left alive are given a chance to try their potentially more successful weapon designs and if they survive they'll end up passing on their more successful genes to the next generation.

It should be the rule, that when you don't get maternity leave after birth, you're allowed to leak on the job. Like, literally leak out of the fucking wound that made life, so everyone can deal with the consequences.

Two observations from my life - make of them what you will. 1) My sister who works for the government took her maternity leave then immediately quit her job. 2) My managers in the private sector never really get time off - even when they are on "vacation" they are still working, they are always expected to be on call and still dial into most meetings remotely, and sometimes they even come into the office on their days off, even if only for a few hours. We routinely tell them they should turn off their phones and leave their laptops at the office - they reply "that would be nice" and continue working harder than ever.

Katie's comment was that a female manager worked her butt off but did not get maternity leave. My comment was pointing out that a lot of managers (at least in some companies) work their butts off and don't realistically get *any* leave, regardless of sex. In aiming for the glass ceiling, one must stop and consider if that is even the kind of lifestyle that one wants - personally, I'd say to hell with that - I'll keep my lower paying job if it means I still have time for myself and my family, as I think do the majority of people. The CEO of that company is female btw, so that has nothing to do with it.

I agree with Natalie. There is way too much violence on TV. Just last night I watched the movie, "Taken" with Liam Neesan. It was a terrible story about a man's daughter that gets abducted. Her father , played by Liam, is some kind of assassin and has all these skills, which of course makes him the hero, but there was so much violence. Awful!!! Then a documentary of something that did happen was on HBO showing these African women, about 276 of them, being taken from their homes. That was heart breaking because it was REAL. TV has got to stop producing violent movies. I believe it is very influential. I remember watching Ross Perot being interviewed years ago when he tried to run for the presidency. He also felt that TV was influential. He shared a story about how he had seen a circus on TV. He and his friends went around the neighborhood collecting the dogs and cats to try to tame them because they had seen a lion tamer. He had shared this story to show how TV indeed influences people. I have been watching TV for many years. I grew up in the late 50's and early 60's. I use to watch the "Rifleman". I loved the relationship that the father had with the son. I have been watching the re-runs of this show. I noticed that every episode had a "bad" guy in it. Every story was the same. People would come into their town and cause bad things to happen. Of course it got resolved by the end of the episode. I didn't want to watch it any more. And that was an old show. I was watching "The Lone Ranger" and it too had the same kind of action. We have not changed. In fact, the violence has become much worse!!!

@Anonamoosemouse
@Anonamoosemouse 3 жыл бұрын
@@asym52 Well, the argument of patriachy has many inconsistencies. The main evidence used to prove that we live in a patriachy is usually difference in outcomes between men and women, particularly earnings and positions of power. These are good arguments in some ways, but it doesn't prove differences between men and women are due to abuses of power by men on women. In some of the most egalitarian countires where there are more women in government than men, where there is legislation passed to equalise pay and there has been a considered effort to equalise pay gaps, they can't do it. Iceland for example has 43% of board members and 50% of Parliament as women and there have been continued movements to reduce pays gaps such as the women's day off where women refused to work in their job or at home which caused lots of disruption, the mean and median pay gaps are higher in Iceland than on average. There simply are limits to how much influence you can have without creating legislation that discriminates specifically against men and in favour of women. On the other side, men are performing worse than women in education, are more likely to be in prison, commit suicide, die on their job, work in manual labour or be in the army, less likely to get child custody, more likely to live on the street, they don't live as long, are less happy than women according to studies, are more likely to be assaulted or murdered (admittedly by other men), more likely to have less friends. I'm not saying these things prove patriachy doesn't exist, but it shows that if men are in power, they aren't doing a good job of using it. I would also argue most of the power men hold is wielded by a small number, but there are a vast number of men at the bottom of the pile, even below women so it isn't men as a whole that hold power over women, but admittedly a small number of men hold a vast amount of financial and political power. Again this point in itself doesn't prove patriachy either as any system where power exists will have imbalances so you can't assume this is due to patriachy. Racism does exist and sexism does exist and it goes in multiple directions, but luckily in most countires acting upon this is illegal and punishable by law. If you have any good arguments to prove patriachy exists though then please share as you might convince me with a good argument.

First of all, I want to enjoy that rarest of rare phenomena, an intelligent and detailed youtube comment. I would not, on the basis of your first remark, have guessed that you could provide that. I was wrong in that, and I want a moment to enjoy your response.... OK, I'm ready now. So second of all, it was no part of my agenda to argue with you but simply to point out that asking for other people to supply arguments while not doing any arguing yourself was not quite the thing. You've done some arguing now, so I am personally content to leave it at that. However, third of all, I also think that the effects of patriarchy (call it sexism if you will) are less than good, less than good for both men and women, not to mention.... Therefore I will at least share with you a link to a Guardian article that I saw just this morning: www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/mar/17/breaking-silence-patriarchy-men-help-end-violence-against-women For myself, I will only point out that examples of women succeeding, examples of women in positions of power, examples of men doing poorly do not in any way demonstrate that patriarchy is not a thing. What they demonstrate is that in spite of patriarchy, women can succeed, that in spite of patriarchy, men can fail. Men's failures in a patriarchy, however, are owing to their own personal failures as individuals (and I'm not taking into account here other power structures--a complete argument would have to take those into account), but women's failures in in patriarchy are owing to systemic oppression. (And here, too, I have not taken into account personal failings by any individual woman. A full argument would have to take those into account.) Of all your points, I liked this one the best: "...if men are in power, they aren't doing a good job of using it." Indeed. We are in complete agreement there, though we may differ as to what that means. What I think it means is that men don't have to do a good job in order to succeed. The system enables them. I call that system "patriarchy." Women, on the other hand, have to do a good job in order to do no more than fail. The women who succeed are therefore doing a magnificent, a splendid, an extraordinary job. Speaking personally, I would rather have someone like that in power.

This speech is about women, not ‘people who bleed’ ‘people who get pregnant’ or ‘people who identify as women’ - she’s talking about WOMEN AND FEMALES! She’s talking about women being discriminated against. This was only four years ago - that just tells you how much gender ideology has ruined things for women.

For me, equality doesn't mean that women will make as much money as men in all professions nor does it mean that men and women will necessarily make the same amount of money on avarage across all professions. For me, it means that if a woman produces the same result for an employer/buyer she should be paid the same amount as a man and the same thing goes the other way around. A customer pays in one way or another for a product and you should get paid in accordance to your contribution in making this product. This does not however apply to respect. Every human being should be respected irrelevent of gender, ethnicity or creed. Here's an example, although this isn't scientific nor factually based so I could be wrong. Stand up comedy has been talked about for a while for being dominated by men. I am a man, and I usually don't find female comedians funny. There could be a thousand reasons for it but I would mostly say because their comedy usually isn't relatable to me. I'm not going to apologize for what I do and don't find funny as I can't control what makes me giggle and laugh. Thus, more often than not, male comedians produce a result for this customer (me) that surpasses the result of the female comedians and in the end the male comedians get a large percantage of the money I spend on comedy. Now - here comes the unverified facts - I believe and would suggest that there are more men that attend stand up comedy shows, and/or watch stand up comedy on netflix and so on, than women. Now, if a majority of men prefer male comedians as well - The majority of the paying customers prefer male comedians. Isn't it logical that they make more money?

The irony of Hollywood. Natalie Portman is probably wearing clothing, shoes, jewelry and makeup what some families make in a year. It’s always interesting when people preach at you yet they don’t follow their own advice. Leonardo DiCaprio talks about the environment yet he rides around in a private jet that in just one trip, let’s say from the west coast of the United States to the east coast of the United States, will create a carbon footprint equal to that of a family of four living in the United States for an entire year. No one listens to Hollywood because Hollywood doesn’t listen to Hollywood. When we all see the Natalie Portman of the world wearing cut offs and a T-shirt to an award ceremony, kicking down the runway wearing flip-flops and showing up in a Kia that cost about 15,000 then, and only then can we sit down and have a conversation. Until then, you really need to think about the irony of that which you say in comparison to that which you do. To be clear, I’m willing to have that conversation with you, Natalie. As a single dad with a disability, I would be more than happy to sit down and discuss what real life is all about.

In summary men prefer to jobs related to objects and women the one's related to people and this fact is what creates these segregation or gaps talking about the "representation"; also men are biological more competitive than women and this make them to pursue and work harder and better for success. Also, gender wage gap doesn't exist by the way.

Will tell you what patriarchy did to me: my grandfather married my grandmother for her dowry. My grandmother her entire life served my grandfather. My mother was raised in a secluded environment because she was a woman. The same she did to me. I was forbidden from dating forbidden from having friendships going out. The only thing i was allowed and obliged was to study so i can advance socialy cause that s what my mother wanted. And in general i had to obey my parents. I was called immoral by my mother cause i wanted to date. Till this day i am 45 year old now she does not let me have a boyfriend. She does not let me have kids unless it is with someone rich or educated. My parents have broken off an engagement in my late 20s and called in the house of my boyfriend in my 20s or ring my doorbell for hours to see if i was inside with a boyfriend in my 40s. The situation with her will never stop and i wish God will bring me a kid somehow so i have family too. Also my last boyfriend s family his dad and grandma were telling him to cheat on me use me and dump me as his grandma was telling him because i was older than him and that i will make autistic kids as she was saying to him. Aka the notion of men only going with younger women the notion of women must not have sex cause if they do they are immoral beings the notion women must stay at house and be obidient has destroyed my life and my mental health

So if girlfriend stabs when she gets angry. Slaps around plays mind games emotionally manipulative . and threatens with false accusations and I seen women make accusations on stop. If tell your Mon about that she says what did you do to her. Do you really need a preseason to hate women. Not hating seems like Stockholm syndrome. As much your mother makes suffer your daughter's gotta pay big time
