So deserving! The man wears his heart on his sleeve.Hard to be so transparent at his level of stardom.By far my favorite song writer.

As a loyal fan of Seether and Shaun Morgan, one who not only suffers from mental illness but also once battled suicidal ideation and substance abuse, and a strong supporter of ending the stigma which makes these topics so taboo, I found this profoundly touching. Congratulations, Shaun, and my heart goes out to you. I know too many people who have lost loved ones to suicide, and in the moments I found myself giving in to that same despair that brought about my self harm and overindulgence, it was the thought of leaving my own loved ones behind to suffer in my wake which stayed my hand and I reached the epiphany that I was in desperate need of help. I was one of those who silently suffered and turned to substances to numb me before that epiphany. I hated myself for all of it, but I shouldn't have. No one should feel ashamed or embarrassed for being mentally ill. Being ill makes you no less beautiful and if we lift up those who suffer, offer a hand to pull them out of the trenches and into the sunshine, we can perhaps help brighten their days and give them hope...maybe even help them to love themselves a little more. I'm so grateful for those around me who did that; my family, my husband, and my wonderful friends. I don't know where I'd be without them all. I began using my writing as an outlet, as well as art and music. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world. Thank you for supporting people like me and all those beautiful souls that are too scared to emerge from the darkness or don't know how. Your music has meant so much to your fans, and it still speaks to my soul. Those of you who still suffer in darkness, don't carry the weight of your burden alone. Don't be ashamed. Be confident in how special you are. You are not broken, you are beautiful.
