Spit out my coffee when Nate pronounced envious after the mischievous talk. This dude is too good. Also, I feel like Aaron is to this podcast as laugh tracks are to old sitcoms. Aaron is funny on his own, but he’s the only one who truly laughs at jokes likes he’s one of us at home. When Aaron laughs I laugh!

Nate I feel your pain with the refilled Fiji water bottle. My wife would also not change a thing if we won a billion dollars. In 15 years she has never given me a whole paper towel. She takes one off the roll, tears it in half (or smaller), and gives me that. If she uses one just to dry a clean dish, she hangs it to dry. I love that she’s not into material things…and I get it, neither of us grew up with money…but for the love of God, can I get more than a post-it note when I’m eating hot wings??

Hey guys, I’m an American living in Qatar. Been here since 2018. Loooove Nate and looooove this podcast. Ive watched Tennessee Kid about 6 times because every time I had guests I would force them to watch. I almost commented on the Physics episode because as much as I hate physics I think watching you guys try to explain it was even more challenging than learning it in school. I had to jump in on this Qatar one though because Qatar is a pretty cooler place and there is so much incorrect stuff floating around on the internet about it. Alcohol is available here, and has been for at least the last decade, it’s just not sold as wildly. So if you want it you either buy at hotel bars or you get a liquor permit to buy from the distribution center. Additional alcohol outlets have been set up just for the World Cup. The last minute change they made was to not allow alcohol to be sold in the Stadiums themselves. Women can sun bathe at hotel beaches and even the beach front neighborhood I live in called The Pearl. Finally, Qatar spent $220B on not just stadiums but general infrastructure (like road expansions and a metro system) and while those things support the World Cup they weren’t built exclusively for the World Cup, so it’s not exactly fair that folks keep posting that figure and comparing it to other countries’ direct expenditure on the World Cup. Qatar has quite a few strict laws on the booms that aren’t actually enforced. It’s pretty amazing living here. Nice people and sooooooo safe! Nate you could come do a show here!! Dusty’s comment about not enjoying soccer when not drunk was hilarious but legit probably true for a lot of fans 😂

The Brian winning the lottery and acting like Count of Monte Cristo storyline is fantastic. I'd like to see rich, vindictive, monocled Brian go on all sorts of adventures. The basketball player could get Brian's autograph, he could freely wear a Coca-Cola or New Kids on the Block shirts, and he would track down the girl who said he was worried to finally prove to her (and himself) that he really is a cool guy. I'll go proofread this now.

Watching the gears turn as Nate tries formulating an idea is always my favorite part. He’ll start about 5 different sentences with partial sentiments of what he’s trying to say, but doesn’t have the language skills to do so in one cohesive sentence. Ultimately Nate ends up backing out of the statement completely and hopes we can piece together his thoughts ourselves.

Hello folks. I’m a Junior in Highschool and listen to the podcast every week. I’m listening to the podcast in class in the morning and I go to drink the rest of my cereal milk when I hear Nate say “spoilers” as a response to the Harry Potter book comment. I instantly lost and I sprayed Luke warm milk out my mouth onto the back of the kid sitting in front of me. This lead to the explanation on why I just launched my milk all over this kid I’ve never talked to in my life before. I had to show them the podcast and now everyone in my class is listening. Keep up the hilarious content. Love the podcast.

Coming from Europe, this episode was super fun to watch. It always amazed me how little people from the States cared about football, but i guess its the same the other way around. The mistakes made were horrendous don't get me wrong, but you guys either figured them out or simply moved on, exactly what we love about the podcast. On the other hand when some of you mentioned something right i was getting super excited and feeling happy for you. I love how for many Americans, it looks like it took a guy headbutting someone on the chest to think football it's interesting. P.S that game was not only a final, it was Zidane's final competitive match, he scored France's goal. Greetings from Cyprus

I can agree with Dusty that Wicked is a fantastic play. When I was 15, my family and I went to New York for Christmas. I, unfortunately, came down with strep throat and was painfully sick throughout the trip. On Christmas day, we had a full day of events: seeing a Knicks game, the Rockettes, and ending the night with Wicked. I managed to make it through the Knicks game, but the worst part is that even though we were front-row center for the Rockettes, I managed to sleep during the entire show. I begged my parents to let me skip Wicked, go back to the hotel, and sleep. I am glad they did not let me because the second the show began, I sat up in my seat and forgot I was sick for the entirety of the show. I am unsure if it was the spells or the outstanding performances, but Wicked saved my Christmas.

WOW! This actually made it to air! What a thrill, thank you! Thought I’d provide a follow up to your critique. In regards to the “blades of grass” comment… The reason the range of answers is so wide is because the number of blades of grass in a square inch vary quite a bit. The way students are successful with estimating the number of blades of grass is by counting blades within a square inch which usually range from 25-60 blades. Even on turf fields there is some variability as blades get blown out or ripped out all the time. Students then figure out the number of square inches on a football field to get their final answer, resulting in what seems like a wide range out outcomes (200-500 million). Finally, I’ll start taking your recommendation by having students attempt to “find” the winning blade of grass, I’ll put a piece of scotch tape on it or something. Shoot, I could probably let the students search for it all period and they wouldn’t find it… again, hitting home the fact that spending money on power ball tickets is a bad idea LOL. Love you guys, Dan Ludwig

Dusty mentioned southerners adding syllables to words. When we got married my wife's stepsister, a Trussville Alabama native with a thick Alabama accent, sent us a gift card to a hardware store. Her note said, "This is to help build your poarch". I laughed so hard thinking about how this happened. She must have gotten to the word porch, wasn't sure how to spell it, so tried to do it phonetically. "Po-arch"...Poarch.

Dusty mentioned that the US takes the best swimmers from all over the world and then dominates in the Olympics. On the contrary, many D1 swimmers are international students on athletic scholarship. They compete for their college in the States, but represent their home countries in the Olympics. For example, Joao De Lucca won an NCAA Championship with University of Louisville but represented Brazil in the Olympics. Collegiate sports is not as popular in Europe, so it's a win-win if a kid can land an athletic scholarship in the U.S. and still compete for their home country internationally. I feel compelled to mention that my son swims for University of Kentucky since I just referenced UofL. Happy Thanksgiving! Prepping the meal and listening to Nateland = Heaven!

In Australia, we refer to each type of football as codes and we probably have the most codes of football at elite levels than any other country. Of course, as mentioned, we call the round ball football "soccer", but then we also have our brand of football, Australian Rules which is commonly known as AFL after our highest level of competition. We also play both rugby-type football codes at the elite level with the NRL being the top level for the Rugby League (and our own World Cup Final between Australia and Samoa played last weekend) and Rugby Union, the one that is played in colleges in the US also being played in private schools and universities in Australia. Depending on which state you live in will generally determine which code is the one you follow the most, and generally speaking, you will refer to that code as "footy", but that is mostly just the NRL (New South Wales and Queensland) or the AFL (Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia). Many Aussies will follow an NFL team, but we kinda hate how y'all think it is the best version of football, especially with the amount of padding and helmets y'all need to play that game.

I'm not saying everyone should watch every stage in its entirety but watching the last hour or so does the job. The mountain stages are definitely the most exciting to watch but even stages that you think will be boring can end up changing the whole race.

This past weekend while traveling, the only decent football broadcast I could get over the radio was for the Raiders’ game vs the Broncos. The Raiders’ radio broadcast played John Denver’s “Take me Home, Country Roads” as a intro back from a commercial break. I was unnecessarily furious for about 5 minutes.

Interesting tidbit about the Zidane headbutt. I remember watching it live and recall the commentators talking about how it was clear that none of the refs saw the incident so there wasn’t much they could do on the field. However, this incident caused a long break/delay in the game and after a long time during this break, all of a sudden the ref gives Zidane a red card. Supposedly the 4th official saw the incident and told the center ref about it, however, there is some controversy around that story, and many believe the ref actually saw the replay on the Jumbotron in the stadium and then used that information to give Zidane a red card which they are not supposed to do. At that time, refs were not able and not allowed to use replay to make decisions on the pitch.

Not your strongest topic fellas. Messi is Italian, the pronunciation of “Queremos”. Also, Christian Pulisic is good but absolutely not in the conversation for the best player in the world. He rarely starts for his club team (Chelsea in the Premier League). Also for Nate, most countries have their own professional leagues. Teams can sign players from all over the world to their rosters, but the best players tend to play in the leagues in England (Premier League), Spain (La Liga), Germany (Bundesliga), and Italy (Serie A). Only 4 of the players on Brazil’s roster play in the Brazilian professional league.

They weren't able to return to their countries of origin because they're passports were confiscated.

A few years ago one of the cars in the Tour de France hit one of the cyclist and knocked him into a fence. It was one of the most intense sports moments I’ve seen live.

In terms of watching exciting TV -- would recommend Rugby for anyone looking for a contact sport fix - fast paced, exciting, and no theatrics that you find in soccer! Would love to see you guys do a podcast on Rugby - having played the sport competitively here in the USA -- it is a strange sport and would have a lot of comedic elements to it that y'all would love!
