Illinois is known as the corruption state of the U.S. The former speaker of the house in IL is on trial right now for racketeering and corruption but the trial breaks much more often than is in session. I’ve never seen anything like it. The governor committed fraud by removing some toilets from his mansions causing them to be labeled unlivable but when the inspector left, just had them put back in. He was caught, had to pay the taxes on livable dwellings then was not fined or punished for the oversight….as he calls it. There have been something like four or five of the last ten governors go to jail and the last one to go ended capital punishment in the state by a stroke of his pen before he went to the pen. The corruption is unbelievable

There needs to be a federal change in election law. You can't physically force people to vote but If a simple majority doesn't vote in an election then that election is null and void, those positions remain vacant until another election is held. And if they continue not to care dissolve the township and business is turned over to the next higher level. No one should be elected on 9% participation.

Here in Australia voting is compulsory. We have very few people whining about the result as we must participate by law. As well as elections, we have referendums. The last one was about giving our indigenous people an active voice in our parliament, based on race. It was defeated, to the shock of the more woke sections of our society. The Illinois way is to steer public money toward private interests for campaign donations, or in more shameless cases to one's own company. Lightfoot had no authority to charge Henyard or issue subpoenas; she was simply an investigator and fact-finder for the board. The government is likely taking its time to build a solid case, probably waiting until after Henyard is out of office when it’s easier to get cooperation from village employees. Taking the time to build a case is smart-once charges are filed, they’re on a timeline to bring her to trial, and missing evidence could weaken their position.

What is absolutely astonishing is the fact not only did Tiffany Henyard, and her cronies misappropriate millions of dollars during her tenure as the Mayor of The Village of Dolton and Thornton Township, but she alone has grossed over one million dollars in combined salaries during this time. Just that amount alone, not to mention additional stipends, perks, travel, meals and other expenses that were paid by these municipalities could have allowed Ms. Henyard to live comfortably for years. She must have or is supporting someone with an immense drug habit or gambling habit, because her personal expenses do not equate to her income.

I don't understand. A credit card purchase should have lots of info included. Perhaps not who used it being corporate but you would know what was purchased, when it was purchased from whom it was purchased and where the items were delivered. Corporate cards are (or should be) still individually issued with unique numbers for each authorised user. They're not supposed to be shared around. This investigation wasn't criminal, so they likely had less access to the data than police or FBI would.

The voting record presented indicates only 8% of eligible voters elected her into office. The citizens of Dolton need to be more involved by at least voting. The eligible and or those registered to vote used, are not exact. This is an excellent example why voting with knowledge is imperative. Our forefathers set this country up to succeed. I have to wonder what responsibility the accounting firm should have had in this. Seems like they should have at the least reported some of these questionable changes to state government? I wonder if somewhere in the future if they will be sued for their actions in all this...
