Hey Bear and whatnot! I am a palliative care chaplain at a hospital in Denver. Each day we start interdisciplinary rounds with a short reflection, usually an inspirational quote or something. Today I instructed our entire team to come up with the five liquids they would dispense from their fingers. Each member of the team (doctors, social workers, chaplains) spent the whole day discussing, looking up various liquids (some NSFW), and crafting their perfect starting five. You have brought joy and levity to a sometimes difficult place to work. Thanks for being a source of fun and a reminder that we don't always have to take ourselves so seriously!

Yes he is nice. He just likes to tease and thinks it’s funny and entertaining. His cohosts know they are getting a lot out of being on this podcast due to Nate’s popularity, so they are going to take it with a grain of salt and are also grateful to Nate for bringing them on. Also, I think by “nice” The Atlantic also meant “clean” (no cursing) and non-political in his comedy.

Howdy folks, 2 quick sides for your amusement, my grandfather could never properly pronounce Worcestershire sauce but used it frequently on steak, use to call it washed a shore sauce because he said it was made from the wash up fish and left over bits after processing. And secondly it's funny to me that nate lived in Chicago which is nicknamed the windy city and you all are having a debate on how the Chicago fire spread... cheers from the land of lincoln. In August we are going to a farm for vacation with lots of down time. I live in Sarasota, Florida but recently had to fly out of Tampa. Having never been there before, I took pictures of where I left my car in the garage. When I returned the next day, I asked someone where the parking garage was and they pointed me to a tram. Ten minutes into my tram ride I thought “I did not take a tram to get here”. Needless to say I wandered around a satellite lot for an hour before finally asking a cop to help me. I showed her the photos of where I parked and she said “bless your heart sweetie, you aren’t close”. Needed the find car on Google maps for sure

When Nate says something crazy like, "if you got $10 million you couldn't retire." I just have to shake my head. Even if I got taxed at 40% and had $6 million left, I could retire. I will only have a high tax liability the first year. If I place that money in various high interest accounts I can live off of the interest alone going forward, for the most part. (for example, 4% on that amount is $240,000. I make 1/5th of that right now. I think I'd be just fine.)

Nate, Dusty, Aaron and Black Bean Breakfast Burrito - My husband and I have been huge fans since we stumbled across Nate’s special, Tennessee Kid, in 2019 one night while browsing Netflix. We didn’t know what we were in for, but we laughed so hard we cried, and we have been hooked ever since. Now we have a fun hobby following stand-up comedy in general. It’s a nice escape from our daily lives as full-time working parents of four. The reason I felt the need to comment this week is because I am the corporate dietitian at Panera Bread. I manage the nutrition, ingredient, allergen and food policy information that you see on our menus. Aaron - thank you for being a Panera fan! I have heard you mention Panera a few times. Nate - I hope you give us another try. Though Aaron prefers our drive-thru locations, there is still the option to walk into a bakery-cafe and order, plus there are calorie counts on all the menu items which I know is something you pay attention to. So many options to choose from - from bakery treats to specialty coffees & drinks to salads to sandwiches to soups to warm bowls to flatbread pizzas! You can’t go wrong. My husband was gone for a week for work, he came home Friday and the highlight of our week wasn't seeing each other, it was seeing Nate and his dad in Dayton! Met his dad and met him again. Nate- my daughter is dyslexic also, and she has a hard time reading. We always point out all the brilliant people who have Dyslexia that have made a success of their lives in spite of their reading challenges. Henry Winkler is one of our favorites too. He has a great series of books that discuss this subject too. You’re an inspiration to our daughter and we thoroughly enjoy your comedy. We are also Christian and feel if we wouldn’t say it in front of God, we don’t say it. Clean comedy is a must in our household. Thank you for all you do.

I grew up thinking there was a Springfield in every state, but when you pulled up that map I was shocked to see it wasn't true. More than that, I was confused to see 67 Springfields in less than 50 states. Upon further investigation, it turns out that *according to this* Michigan and Indiana have 2 Springfields, while New Jersey has 3, Virginia has 4, and Wisconsin takes the crown with 5. I became an instant fan of Nate’s comedy in 2019 after seeing The Tennessee Kid, and have been a weekly listener of the podcast from the get-go. It wasn’t until the last handful of episodes that I noticed a particular ism that comes up occasionally, and thought I’d check in for some answers. I hear Nate consistently say “we’re” instead of “we’ll”. Example: “we’re talk about that next time,” or “we’re be in Nashville next weekend,” etc. Are we supposed to add in the word “going” on our own as a part of the “we’re” contraction? As someone from the Northwest, I wasn’t sure if it might a Southern thing, although I’ve only heard Nate say it. This is my first comment/question, and figured this would be an opportune time to mention y’all are great and hope to see you come through Portland-Nate please come back, you were unbelievable.

Hey Folks. Hello bear. Went back and was listening to the “Aliens” episode and heard the topic of the Cowboy Church that Beefcake worked in Montgomery. I live in Conroe, which is north of Houston, and there a lot of Cowboy churches. The basis behind it is it’s a judgment free place where you don’t have to dress up (or cowboy wear). Anyone is welcome, but most of them look and feel like you’re at a ranch. Love the show. Coming to the show in Ft Worth later this year.

In the altruism discussion,Dusty hit the nail on the head when he said it's about why you help someone, not whether you feel good about it afterwards. As Nate said, of course you're going to feel good about it. Dusty made that point at least 3 times before anyone picked up on it. Also, FYI Aaron, the first syllable of altruism is pronounced like the name Al. Nate got that right the first time. Quite often, by the way, Nate pronounces names right with his first guess.

For the Snail dilemma. You have 10 million dollars. Use that money to develop a way to trap the snail for good and then you dont have to live in fear.

I went to Malaysia and the total air time was like 25 hours. We did the first 14 hours and then had a layover in Sadia Arabia for 11 hours. We could not leave the airport and there was like no other people in the whole place. Then we hopped on our second flight that was 100 percent full, of people with some kind of viral caugh for 11 hours. Wouldn't recommend that. On the return we had to change plains but it was a run to make our connection. Still not sure if I would want to have a layover or not.

I went to bed thinking about this and remembered some more topics! Even sport could have been mentioned like the Cubs wining the World Series in 2016 and breaking the 108 year curse or the epic 92’ bulls/Michael Jordan era. I don’t know but it felt like the ball was dropped a little bit guys.

Since movies come up in nearly every episode (and rightly so!), it still baffles me the movies that Nate will watch and rewatch, yet still has not see Shawshank Redemption. You guys should get together and watch it and review it on an upcoming episode. Let's make it happen!

I flew a red eye from Tel Aviv to San Francisco, just over 15 hours. With the exception of two bathroom breaks, I slept the whole time. I was in the last row by the bathroom. When I woke up after landing, the lady next to me said “you are a champion sleeper”. Needless to say, I prefer less layovers. 😅

The Great Chicago Fire jumped the river because the river was incredibly polluted. The river actually burned as well due to the pollutants in it. Also, with Chicago being very windy, it is easy for fire to spread and hard to contain it.

There is absolutely a breakfast menu at Cheesecake Factory - and it is delicious. It’s a weekend brunch menu. I was getting real fired up, but then I remembered that out of all the states you names that are apparently so “obvious,” I could only identify California, Texas, and Florida. And I even looked real hard for a state with little legs. (I’ve lived my entire life in CA and Las Vegas)
